Uh, no. The unemployment is due to this govt. The austerity measures have led to purchasing power dwindling, leading to lowering domestic demand, and changes to unemployment, removing the possibility to do part-time work while on benefits h

I did not even mention the causes of austerity measures, I'm simply describing their effect. You are not even responding to anything in my post. Please try again.

That's because it is the average of the "time to earn 1$" per individual. So let's say you're Elon Musk and it takes you a negligible enough time to do this that we can say that t_Elon = 0. Now say you are way below

Of course, this is due to the current Finnish govt. weakening its welfare system, driving down demand and creating incentive traps. I.e. making the economy more like the US.

You forget that in the US, even with PPP, the level of "comfortable" is higher, due to missing social safety nets. This means using PPP doesn't actually show where the level of precarity is.

What was the reason for those protests? Was it perhaps economic hardship brought about by US sanctions? How much is the US liable for the suffering of the Iranian people? (A lot, is the answer) That doesn't excuse the Iranian regime, b

You say adults should be self-reliant. That's a categorical statement. That means it should apply to "every" adult. Do you want to continue to play pedantic whack-a-mole? I can go on forever.

You are using git's data model. And all you're doing is visualizing it. It's not greenfield.

Why does everyone on the right always read "not totally free economy" as "planned economy". Regulate the markets. Have the government own natural monopolies. Have large government sellers and buyers in all markets. Break

You can build and distribute morality. It's called politics. Or religion. Or culture. Or marketing. Or propaganda. Or education. There's so many ways in which morality is distributed. There are also many things that stand in the w

This is a non-statement. The reverse is also true. I have no control over the technology that others use. Whereas I have direct control over my own morality.

API breakage != UI breakage, yes, ofc. Because API != UI. But the UI is also an interface, and the user is part of the total system. That system interface is broken if you change default mappings. It doesn't matter if the interfacing c

Maybe resources shouldn't be distributed purely using a free market that can easily be manipulated, especially if the top dogs are allowed to use manipulative advertising and sales tactics.

That is an incredibly dishonest way to look at it. 1) You're conflating the "smartest people" with tech companies. The point of the quote is that people's careers are funneled towards ads. 2) The technology is not free a

Small correction: there was one very publicized school bombing with a lot of casualties, but there's more than one bombed school. The US and Israel have bombed several schools, hospitals, and civil servants' offices, and residenti

Expecting that everyone in society should be self-reliant, and that resources should not be managed socially is naive. It's a maximally inefficient and cruel way to organize society.

I'm not sure you're aware, but this is a very American view of things. A very skewed one. Quite a childish one too. Bit of irony there. There is a guaranteed pension where I live, it's part of the social contract [1]. And hea

Couldn't disagree more. Why move away from solid, mature build systems to something relatively fringe like zig. Sadly, this is the general trend with neovim in general: less focus on stability, more and more focus on shiny new things.
