Yes, easy to use is valid, but Debian, openSUSE, or Manjaro are not difficult to use. They also have the additional benefit of trying to be actually useful operating systems. As you said, the issue with Mint is that they go out of their way

I would suggest one of the big main trunks of the different distro flavors: debian, arch, or openSUSE (NOT mint, it's Linux with guide rails, but you've taken away most of the power user focus and still have most of the footguns)

And with CMake, you also get a standard framework for testing, installing, packaging, and integrating external packages. You are shooting your future self in the foot by going out of your way to use a handbuilt new framework. It can still b

Twitter will be bankrupt within the year. Honestly, I think this is the best thing that could have happened to the tech business culture. Maybe with this, and SBFs sentencing, we will finally learn to stop worshiping unqualified tech leader

I would even say Russia got exactly the response they wanted. The situation and the government's response is already taking up all the news-space in Finnish media, the response by Finland is causing internal turmoil, and Russian media

Libertarians, especially crypto people, are cartoonish in my experience. Cartoonish is not equivalent to false. Some things in life are ridiculous, and then we should be able to call a spade a spade --- or call a bond villain a bond villain

This sounds like something a toxic middle management bro might say to be edgy. If this is easier for you to understand, you might have a problem.

Well, you need to be able to simulate what happens in the problem domain in order to arrive at a conclusion. There isn't really any other feasible option. This is what humans do, we visualize and predict the outcome of actions within a

There was just a post on this website where GPT4 failed to perform basic reasoning tasks better than minimum paid mechanical turk "microworkers".

Easy, you recognize the ability for the generative model to copy facets of data from its corpus as useful but boring in the AI sense, and wonder why people are even talking about sentience and AGI.

It's just that there is no way for the model to map the token meanings to a iseful representation. Yes, in the general case, you can make a model for most types of logic problems (but be careful there, there are real problems you could

Neural networks are universal function approximators, transformers are universal sequence to sequence approximators. Crucially, the sequences here are the stream tokens in an LLM. This means an LLM can do arbitrary language manipulation. If

Ok, I'll bite. I personally don't think human communication is simply pattern matching (e.g. we have drives, motives, relationships that we want to tell each other, these are internal systems, outside the visible band of communic

Conclusion is obvious, but the paper is still probably necessary. Of course LLM's can't reason. They pattern match answers to previously asked questions, and humans will read the text as a reasonable answer because we assign meani

What I'm surprised about in this whole discussion is how little people are actually looking at Altmans worldcoin venture. It is incredibly shady, and has the same kind of sci-fi marketing bullshit vibe going on as Elon Musk's hype

That's not chaos, the outcome is the same even if the input varies. Chaos is when the outcome differs greatly with small changes in input.

The point was that weather, unlike a sandheap, is a chaotic hydrodynamic system with turbulent flows, that means it's computationally intractable to do exactly, which is why weather forecasts are only good for a few days anyway. The ex
