It's good when companies are open and honest about problems. I imagine they will have a great multi-level tested backup process in the next day or two!

If the advent of self driving cars corresponds with reduced private ownership then cars will not need to wait and our children just need to hop into the next free car and their phone or smart school bag will contain their home address. For

I like the idea but projects and products need to be planned and funded. The manifesto must address how a business can create a budget and timeline for a new product or service. Without these, sensible business decisions cannot be made and

There is ample evidence that we cannot write software that can be installed, run and updated in a simple and secure manner. Software is too complex with too many dependencies. Hackers are are better than us almost every time -- and once in

I've been playing with some code running as a resolver on my Mac. I had to seed it with some of the google IP addresses to resolve https://dns.google.com to get it going.

httpresolver.py implements DNS over HTTPS in a fork of Paul Chakravarti's dnslib. I have it running as a resolver for my Mac using the command: sudo python3 httpresolver.py Have a play with https://bitbucket.org/tony_al

I went back and fixed the script to turn a portion of the JSON API into a set of useful Python objects. The code looks mostly OK now. It's no surprise that it took about the same amount of time again to tidy it up. Apart from making me

I agree 100% with the article. I've just written a script which makes every one of the mistakes listed in the article. I am consuming a JSON based API in a long ugly mash of code, exactly as described. It doesn't look pretty. In m

A bit off-topic, but old phones and tablets make great clocks for around the house! And as @haser_au suggests, great information panels.

None that I can see. It's a stupid practice to annoy users. I store my passwords in a password manager and copy and paste all the time. I don't use software that disables paste.

I agree that this isn't an SOA architecture. I see this more like an SQL stored procedure where you want to get simple code closer to the data for performance and efficiency. I would like to see some use case thoughts about where this

I like the problem you are trying to solve and I like the idea of the JSON data structure but I am not so keen on the language as JSON. I find it hard to read, which would be worse in more complex real-world examples. I guess I would like t

There is no incentive for separate SaaS companies to use a shared source of data. Each system will have data for it's own needs and will manage that data as it see's fit. The best you could do is to have a web page for the custome
