It's the current thing. The tide pod challenge and the light yourself on fire challenge spread via YouTube and Facebook iirc. In 5 or 10 years we'll probably be complaining about a new social media service

The thing that amuses me as an Australian is the subtitles when a pom, Irish, or Scot is talking. I've not seen it with Australians, but I wouldn't be surprised

Every other day YouTube seems to want to give me another American local news channel, despite the fact I'm in Australia. I've marked them as "don't recommend" as I've seen them, but I'm still getting a lot

This isn't a new phenomenon. You raise literally anyone's hackles on twitter and you can potentially get swatted and harassed off the internet. Dong Nguyen was run off the internet for a fun little mobile game that some people on

In theory yes, but every time I see a department trying to do this they inevitably hire a big four firm to do it for them and waste billions to get an inadequate application delivered 3 years late that no one uses

I don't know if the US has the cultural impetus to automate a lot of this stuff. Here the ATO collect pretty much any transaction you do. Your income is reported and taxes will be withheld from each paycheque, your bank gives them all

Very cool idea, would love to see it work with recipes if you could manage it. I always have to look it up when I see a cup of butter listed in the ingredients of a cake

You also have to remember that the culture is very different in the country. If you've been a city person for a long time, you're probably going to struggle to make any friends until you start acting like the locals. Not so preval

I remember having an aneurysm trying to explain this back when Turnbull was PM here. He said, in a press conference, that the average wage was $75k, there was a wave of lukewarm takes on social media along the lines of "he's lying

I feel sorry for Dave. How many times do you think he's come home to an absolute mess, weird kitchen smells and Ann has just mumbled something about YouTube? She's definitely one of my favourites, and I have a copy of her cookbook
