Imagine you're dying of cancer and you have raised a few intelligent children to a certain age. Now you have to ask others to raise your children in your image. Not in their image, but yours . You might not trust anyone with your childre

I just went to see P&T a few days ago. Always loved their show and their insight as it definitely makes me think. For a while, I considered myself a Libertarian, but there were too many conflicts with my own sensibilities (gun control,

I can appreciate that point of view. Evolution of technology, to me, as a consumer, is much more important. Apple is one of few companies that are worth copying. I feel that we all benefit in the long term when manufacturers of technology

I think you took it too far, perhaps in completely other directions. Apple's products are brilliant, innovative and fun to use. iOS is a great ecosystem for developers and users alike. Apple continues to make incredible gains in profits and

This is par for the course for RIM, Microsoft, so no surprises. I get the sense lately that Apple is unraveling. They're starting to make decisions based on fear, not evolution.

This is not a good argument. To me, protecting a name like "App Store" would be as silly as protecting the word "Computer" before commonplace in society. Can you imagine the ads for such a company? "Don't be fooled by those other microcompu

I've pondered the possibility that when CG eventually solves the uncanny valley effect[1], if ever, that some actors/actresses could sell their persona to be recreated (with royalties of course) and used for future purposes (ie, sequels, re

I think the Flash-based restaurant example has had it's time. Let's try and move past the fallacy that most Flash-based sites are restaurant sites. They're not. YouTube, Grooveshark, blog.tv, etc. are all possible because of Flash. The dr

Gruber has some brilliant insight at times, and other times it feels like he's reaching. Gruber would never allow a writer to suggest that a beta/alpha/rc was something that could be critised as a full, ready-to-ship product. He should know

If IE10 supports hardware acceleration, CSS timelines, and a strong JS engine there is no reason why this couldn't work. JS owes some of its process problems to lower priority in the typical OS. What if JS had higher priority and it's own d
