We need to bring back the do not track header as the legal means of giving consent. It’s a standard, its browser controlled and implementation is easier than the cookie banners. Just make users make the choice, once, and for every website u

I can definitely see clicking on things in email - after all I have already prescreened your company/product and found it to be interesting/worthwhile. As for ads, maybe it is just that marketers generally have to advertise crap (

The problem is that it is an arms-race, and if you don't engage in chumbox style shit, then others are going to kill you in the market. It worked on Google, because nobody was allowed to do anything but text ads. As for respecting the

Very interesting, but anyone know why the number of births is so much higher than the number of newly married couples? I would assume that mostly everyone get married and that therefore the number of married couples should be roughly 1/

You missed half of that - with that much effort at getting prices, you are not going to compare and so we end up with a nonexisting market. Prices must be completely transparent and all offers valid for everbody.

Why should you have access to the SSH host for my pie? Or, more to the point, the server that I use to run my RSS feed reader? Or my NAS? Tailscale makes these more secure and more accessible for me. They are never meant to have the world a

The DMA does not allow you to install what you want. It does not apply to consoles. It does make it possible for companies to keep some more money, but most importantly it allows them to sidestep the protections for my privacy that I pay a

I think that is excessively negative take. Tailscales value proposition is also "you can connect to your network wherever you are, safely, and others cannot". That does not go away because of IPsec.

I got a super default Cannon scanner, which had a button that would scan everything on the plate, and if it detected an image it would save it as such, if more than one it would cut them up in to different images, as long as there was some

If anything Docker is underused. You should have a very good reason to make a deploy that is not Docker, or (if you really need the extra security) a VM that runs one thing only (and so is essentially a more resource requiring Docker). If y

The typesystem of Java was so laughably unpowerful that it severely constrained what you could write. In Typescript you have far more freedom, and all the benefits of strong types.

I am using a .top domain for my homelab (because it was cheap). How will existing domains be handled, assuming ICAN shuts down the registrar?

I don't think they can. One of the things that will define the AI era is that the cost of computation for one user drastically outweights what you could normally make in ad revenue. Thats why I have to pay more for Chat-GPT than I do f
