Animals may plan sometimes, but it seems to be the exception, not the rule. "According to the 'mental time travel hypothesis' animals, unlike humans, cannot mentally travel backwards in time to recollect specific past events (episodic memor

If I understand what you say correctly, you don't like when geeks act out the geek stereotype. I feel the same way. We like computers, but that shouldn't stop us from having a nice conversation, being funny and attractive to others (intelle

Whenever a non-technical person asks a computer related question, like: "Is it possible to do X?", I have to force myself to give a short answer, without going into details, in a way that it will fit that person's needs and abilities. I hav

Completely rational and smart people can form an irrational group. Since you have a network of people, they could form such a group, that everyone's individual talents are cancelled out. This is why, I don't believe in complete democracy at

Life is _not_ suffering. * When I am unhappy it is because I'm focusing on what I am not, and what the end result should be. * If I focus on the process and the problem at hand, and I focus really hard, I will not have any more brainpower t

At best it will not matter that much, but it will not help spreading the news. How will people search for the album after the next one comes out? "Mia album previous" I think this is when cool gets in the way of usability. (On the other han

On fivesecondtest, do testers behave like "real" visitors or are they "overqualified geeks"? How similar are they to the average visitor? Does anyone have first hand experiences?

There is a potential danger with Skype. If I know correctly, phone companies (at least in eastern Europe) have to meet some standards set by the government. Since Skype is not a phone company, it does not have to meet any of these standards

Just imagine a movie, where 3D is not used as a distraction, but in harmony with the movie; and where the story is complex and beautiful. The only question is, which movie will it be.

In Chaplin's autobiography there is a part about the first movies that weren't silent. Everyone was used to silent films, and even Chaplin felt, that speech might hurt his character. I agree 3D movies are different, but they are here, and i

I had a chat with one of my friends about what makes us tick; and I found that whenever I write code, I think about individuals using it - and loving it. I think, I was like 5, when I watched my dad drawing a dog, a house, and some animated
