Very strange to compare async/await to promises when it is just a part of promises. There are rare situations where promise callbacks might be easier to read but those are more edge cases and a matter of personal preference.

Unbelievable! It looks like the prog I made in 6th grade is on there. Gotta download into a VM to make sure it’s mine and not someone using the same name. I’ll update this thread when I know.

The punter/proggie scene definitely got me into programming. Articles like this bring such a special kind of nostalgia. It was both educational and for me at the time, it was very rebellious. My parents did not want me downloading any

There were email punts as well that would crash the app if opened. It was very entertaining as a child to punt someone on your buddy list and hear the door slam as they repeatedly tried to open an email with a too good to be true subject li

Not sure if you meant this literally or figuratively but it does appear to be a different codebase primarily in TypeScript vs JS (Jisti meet). I didn't dig enough to see if it was fork or not but it doesn't look like a white label

To me one of the biggest distinctions here is the overuse of the term "App". I agree that a lot of websites written as an SPA were the wrong tool for the job. There are tons of examples besides the mentioned media websites where S

I’ve never seen such a large ratio of downvoted comments on a thread. I guess I’m not surprised by how polarizing the subject is. I guess I just thought this was a safe place to be contrarian and not just downvote ideas that are not on your
