CTO and founder here. Roughly 2 years ago I launched Checkly on HN and Product Hunt. Both launches bombed completely. I was a solo developer with no audience, no traction, no team and no customers. But HN has been crazy good to me over the

I remember seeing this video some years ago and, as a Dutchman, was astounded how much I learned about the Dutch way of treating cyclists. It just seems so obvious and normal when you grow up in it. I started biking to school at age 6. No h

I saw one last summer at the Musée des Arts et Métiers in Paris. I was more fascinated then I expected https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Musée_des_Arts_et_Mé... They looked more like abstract art pieces or 70ties

The combination of headless browsers and any form of FaaS / Lambda / serverless solution is immensely powerful. There are all kinds of businesses popping up around this tech stack, of which my business is one. OpenFaaS is a great

You don’t go for AWS for EC2. You go for AWS because in half a day you can whip up a secure, managed and auto scaling app using their proprietary services like SQS, S3, Lambda, Kinesis, Dynamo etc.

Sadly, I’ve seen this at more misguided startups. Microservices solve a problem no startup has until they go series B and grow like bananas. When they actually scale.

Yep, we ran ~50M Node invocations last month on a small function. AVG was around 100ms but lots of sub 50ms invocations too.

This is a pretty damn decent post mortem so soon after the outage. Also gives an architectural analysis of how Kinesis works which is something they had not have to do at all.

Anyone in SV or a startup should 100% read Disrupted. The book is hilarious and does indeed show the complete and utter divergence between what Hubspot leadership et al.”say” what their culture is and how the culture is actually experienced

OP here. Matt and I are chatting about this. We will work it out. As per my tweet, it's not about the letter of the licensing, it's about the spirit.

Yes, AWS’s canary service competes directly with my company https://checklyhq.com This is fine of course. We have many competitors.

OP here. You are 100% right. But it's more about the spirit than the letter here. My company heavily depends on OS from some great projects: we make money based on other people's hard work too. Just a short "shout out" w

OP here with some background info. Headless Recorder started life as “Puppeteer Recorder” which was posted here earlier. However, we just added Playwright support and renamed the project!
