Stop making this about Japan specifically. I very much believe that this question would be asked were Japan exchanged with the US in the title.

This is laughable. There are so many manufacturing skillsets that the US couldn’t dream to beat China in. I am from neither country, from the perspective of residence, origin, or that of my family. I have absolutely no horse in the race. I

Is there seriously anyone outside of Apple marketing that pays attention to “designed in California”? Much less anyone that “flexes” this attribute? And would it not be just as weird to say “designed in California” in the title of this webp

You’d hope that this thread explicitly being about the UK would stop an American making worldwide assertions, but I suppose not.

I’m all but certain that this says a lot more about perception than the actual attributes of people sleeping rough in your area.

There’s nothing fundamentally wrong about it. This is unnecessarily strong language in absence of an actual point. GP addressed your exact point: these things are seen as worth doing, to the point where it isn’t routinely questioned.

This is “freedom” at work. Nobody is forcing you to use, say, ChatGPT. If anything, the humans generating source material for LLMs are trying to fight against them, not for them, so the question of one’s freedom of speech being threaten

It is routine to use evidence that would still be available if someone did all of these things.

I’ve been contemplating pulling the trigger on this one myself. I’m pretty much sold on it. I’ve been on board with squash merging for years. Best thing I’ve ever done for our project. I eventually came to the realisation that the majority

If you could prove beyond doubt that Facebook cared an iota about this person posting an EFF privacy tips link, I’ll lick any NYC subway pole you ask me to.

If you had a leg to stand on you wouldn’t need to use such an absurd comparison. It isn’t that at all. It’s exactly what it is, and nothing other than that.

Yeah. Which seems pretty likely as the sort of person that’s looking to rage against this particular machine probably has a largely dormant Facebook account with fake details, a protonmail email address, being accessed via a VPN.

We all know people like this. Anyone that uses this as an example of security overreach or whatever, immediately loses my respect. I am completely happy with what happened here, because this is precisely the sort of childish attitude of som

I suppose that you are in a position to be measuring the differences in societal sentiment re different news events? I agree. Society’s attitude toward DV / violence against women is abhorrent. This sort of whataboutism is not the ans

RMS and the FSF have honestly and I guess unfortunately made their bed here. I think a lack of succession and to be frank the ageing population of people that care for the FSF are in large part a result of these folks conflating “fostering

As an ex heavy IRC user, I couldn’t possibly disagree more with this. Not even for the same “free! libre!” reasons as the other replier. It is just at its core still a gamer chat platform heavily misappropriated for other purposes, with a U

I bought a cheap ConBee (is that what it’s even called?) Zigbee USB dongle, plugged it in, passed it through to my HA container, and it’s flawless. Plenty of things you can knock HA for, but good ZigBee support is easily attainable. I have…
