This is encouraging. One of my pet peeves of late has been the ubiquity of black, grey, and white colour schemes. Here in NZ and Australia, almost all new apartment buildings are some combination of those colours. It's not just new bui

> how are you going to pay for social welfare if no one is making money? So what do you tax? You stop taxing income and start taxing wealth. A land tax would be a good start. Resource taxes are another.

selfcontrol (the aptly named app) helps with self control. I only use it on desktop to limit myself to productive online resources. I have an aversion to using my phone for browsing anyway, so don't need it there too.

After hacking away at Drupal and then WP, adopting Django as my go-to backend helped me immensely early on. I don't do anything with PHP anymore. I'll also say that backend + html + css will take you surprisingly far. JS will be m

Same machine and specs here. Bought it as a refurb in Jan 2013. Still happy after almost 5 years of constant use. The only downside for me is the 128gb drive which limits my options when it comes to VMs. Looking at what has come from Apple

I can't help but feel that the ongoing push for ISP blacklisting of sites is only going to make VPN usage commonplace - to the point where it is more common than not. When do they come for the VPNs?

I'm currently building something very similar. The stack is very similar to what you're proposing: S3, Route53, Cloudfront, with a Django backend running on Lambda (using the great Zappa! framework for this), and a very basic CMS
