The idea is that on none random data, you are able to use a heuristic that would create variable-sized chunks that fit the data. The simplest way seems to detect padding zeros and start a new block on the first following none zero byte. The

That would require some pretty big changes in the C programming language. Static analysis should detect it though, and probably does.

I was curious so I downloaded a list of id-url pairs from here [0]. It's CSV formatted and contains 1_960_207 entries (last update being 22 feb 2019). It is 134MiB uncompressed and 35MiB compressed using xz, so definitely storable in a

Did you consider encryption? Issue is that it adds one step at the start and at the end, which probably isn't negligible on 80gb of data.
