You assume a loss of entropy, why? The usage section describes a way to get a "readable UUID" by passing an existing, regular UUID. The reverse operation doesn't seem to be implemented yet though.

const uuid = require('uuid')

uuid.v4({}, buf)
console.log(id(buf))
