While it's true that you can't replace one cell, you also don't need to because the pack is designed to lose individual cells without significantly impacting the range. It's not like they're not all in series or som

"We weren't built for it" isn't really an argument. There are so many counterexamples of things we weren't built for but are popular. It lets you make a bet on the future being better. Wouldn't a guy who froze

You might consider offering more free or cheap versions, like a student edition (cheap with no proof required) and a free trial. Wolfram, for instance, does both. Not many real companies will cheat, and it's better to have users who ca

Better to have no explanation than a bogus one, which is what it would have to be for things that haven't been invented yet. Sci-fi should focus on the social implications of hypothetical technologies.

I'm disappointed by the slow progress in cryo-suspension. It seems like it should be possible, and would be very useful on earth too. You could just hop however many years into the future. It'd have fascinating social implications

You can't know that. Currently, 8 billion humans generate a few scientific breakthroughs per year. You'd have to run several billion ChatGPTs for a year with zero breakthroughs to have any confidence in such a claim.

Garmin G1000 units (popular in small planes) show this, as a circle around the current position, including fuel reserve. However, it depends on an accurate fuel level, which is mostly dead-reckoned from integrating fuel consumption. Measuri

Most of the buildings on the page are multistory. A door on the ground floor isn't a big deal, but above that they require fire escape stairs, which are big and ugly and create a section with poor views out the windows.

A theory: the tradespeople that young people mostly meet aren’t the elite within the trade. If they meet a welder, it’ll be the guy putting a trailer hitch on dad’s minivan, not the guy welding skyscraper girders. The second kind is more in

I might add kebab-case to my current language project. From all the code I've written, I only found a handful of - operators not surrounded by spaces, so that ambiguity wouldn't bite me often. Also, I wish the unary negation opera

Arc, TIG, and MIG welding is fairly low voltage, like 15 - 30 volts. To start the arc there's a brief high-voltage high-frequency burst, but it's current limited. So it's pretty safe as far as electrocution goes.

Maybe the problem is the way we average grades to get a GPA. If your course scores were 3.98, 3.99, 3.99, 2.10, the linear average of ~3.5 doesn't capture the obviously high ability. Perhaps taking the average like: 4.01 - exp(avg(
