He is right in that you don't hear much about Riak success stories, even though from the word on the street it's a good product. Perhaps this is something you guys could focus on putting together?

Though I like the idea of modularity, wouldn't having so many different services running at once in completely independent compartments make it much harder to monitor and manage the software as a whole? I feel like that's a whole lot of qui

I'm somewhat new to Node, but why do they have you run the test suite like this: npm test as mentioned here https://github.com/cloudkick/whiskey ? Shouldn't that just be 'node whiskey test' or similar?

This problem has been bouncing around in my head since I first started using memcache. Figuring out how to easily and correctly invalidate cache items is an interesting problem. Perhaps instead of explicitly defining dependencies, there cou

I wish Apple would turn its gift for innovation toward manufacturing so they can bring those jobs back home to America, or at least some percentage of them. That would be a very noble effort on their part.

PHP always seemed to have something weird in the parser about subscripts/array indexes. It's been there since I started using it during PHP3. Another similar fix they performed is making func()[0] work - before you had to do $tmp = func();

Other great little changes: - you can now do function()[0] - <?= always on despite what you say in the INI - safe_mode always off Seems like a return to sanity for the PHP team, at least temporarily.. I even kinda like the t

I wish it had a way to trigger a flash, even if it's a separate unit. Without that it's basically useless in bad light.

I'm definitely not a knowledgeable Java dude but it seems to be just an mmap()'d file wrapped in a class. I don't understand how this fits the description the author provided. I also don't understand how he can call it an "in memory databas

I feel like a lot of the time a remote worker may come on strong at the beginning of an assignment and slowly drift away, as the lack of constant direction and team involvement causes them to become bored and distracted. This is something I

We're so spoiled that now we're complaining about the APIs we do get? I would have died for stuff like this ten years ago when using data from other sites involved scraping, harassment, and trickery. Just like not everyone can produce a bea

Is there some place we can all share data (perhaps anonymously) about what % of our users are using mobile browsers? I'll go first: on one of our large-ish travel websites, almost 10% of our users were using a mobile browser (this includes

I wonder if this is a general Media Temple thing. I have a few small sites using Drupal on MT and the response times vary widely. I thought it was because of Drupal itself (I never use it; client decision) but maybe it's just MT, which I've

A lot of people can't/don't use LESS, which means that a lot of precompiled rules have to be overriden in a tiresome way. For instance if you change the grid sizes you have to adjust a couple different CSS attributes. This tool generates ev

A bit off topic, but relevant to the suggestions in this post: a few of my friends are finding it more effective with Google to use a flat file structure rather than the highly nested folder trees that are usually recommended. Anyone have a

I wonder if this is the future must-have feature for social networks. I notice that Facebook now detects if I view comments in Spanish and will automatically translate them for me if I click a link. Pretty cool feature.
