I'm not 100% about the intricacies of how DNS works but is there no way for them to automatically mirror your DNS settings? That would make this process much much easier.

We're in between: full-on dedicated servers with SoftLayer for more intense tasks. We like being able to have other people work on the machine without having to drive to a data center in the middle of nowhere, but knowing that we have 100%

Honest question: do you find yourself really thinking about a languages syntax after you've spent 40-50 hours coding in it? To me it kind of fades into the background, becomes hard wired in my brain. (I'm not suggesting I'm an awesome coder

Yeah, you'll still need to jump through some hoops to get the data ready. Templates are useful when you have a JSON data source and a rather complex HTML UI that is built off the data on the fly after the page loads. You could totally build

Your friend should consider doing a full-length blog post about this, naming the carrier he visited. That's a pretty shocking story.

Great UI and I like the large, in your face text sizes. I notice that the suggestions for Miami are kind of weak in terms of interest value and the photos associated with them don't make sense (i.e., a guy in a nightclub for Dadeland Mall).

If the recruiter is going to be so uneducated about the technologies that are so important in our industry, I wouldn't bother working with them. They'll surely screw up the salary negotiations and not have done the background research on th

I have some APIs I have to call that take up to 5 seconds to return and resist caching (hotel availability, for instance). Would those delays become even more jarring with an approach like this?

Memcache is used on your server to cache data that you would normally request from the slower main database (probably MySQL). If you have a lot of video content, investigate a content delivery network. They host your large files in various

I appreciate your point and I'm not trying to undermine it, but there are a lot of tech people in certain realms of fashion. For instance, many people that are into the 'avant garde' style of dress, popularized by brands like Rick Owens, Ju

You can definitely monetize tours/excursions/attractions via services like Viator. We haven't had huge amounts of luck with it but the option definitely exists. Contact me directly: lackner@gmail.com

I personally don't favor the industry TLDs except for .xxx (as it provides a convenient way to screen content for various audiences). I know that the foundation of DNS is industry-specific namespaces (.org .com .net .mil) but it doesn't see

Small point: I believe Google Webmaster Tools has a tool for when you change your sites' names, which might have come in handy to transfer your PR5 to the new domain. Did you try this feature?

People invest in hot properties like Tumblr for the same reason people will pay a significant premium for real estate on busy intersections: they have access to tons of "eyeballs" (I know, I know, hackneyed term) and it's a lot easier to fi

Totally agree. I don't think too many Facebook app vendors are worrying about scaling. If Facebook wants to get more developers to embrace their dying platform (when was the last time you heard about an exciting new FB app?), they'll need t
