I feel your pain. That’s why in personal projects I use Go. I install the binary and that’s all. I use Go templates with plain HTML and vanilla JS and CSS. More than enough. I really hate the whole babel, npm, sass, ts ecosystem. Too many d

Agree. I have a domain with Gandi and use it for my primary email address as well. For silly websites I used protonmail.

After years of experience in the field, I don’t longer ask myself what’s good or bad code, I ask myself what’s good and bad modules. It’s all about modularity and decomposition: if you get to decompose a system in parts that fit together an

Just in the US. The second place that pays swes good money is Europe… and in the majority of western european countries it’s not easy to earn more than 90K Eur gross per year. The average is probably around 60K, which is not bad but definit

It’s a simplistic definition. Since the topic of calling developers engineers is rather superfluous, I think we should go for simple definitions.

I don’t doubt working on game engines is hard (I do web development). If you build game engines then you are probably a game engine developer. I don’t hold a degree in engineering myself; no shame of not having the “engineer” title.

So a plumber is an engineer. It’s easy: an engineer is someone who has a degree in engineering (whether or not such degrees should be degrees on engineering is another question). The current trend of calling programmers/developers engi

Good candidates do not apply if leetcode is involved; good candidates know they can code and they want to have interviews where they are asked, from a high level perspective, about past projects and the like. On the other hand, bad candidat
