I'm just going to point out a single flaw in this argument. 2) Apple has _a_ dev on the MacRuby project. One dev does not a complete project make. Perhaps in time, if they put more support behind MacRuby, but I'll believe it when I see it.

This doesn't make much sense to be honest. Just because two companies don't see eye to eye on an executive level and are competing on some products doesn't mean they will take a flamewar over languages and make business decisions based on t

All of this rings true, with the exception of having some forms notarized. My name on my forms did not match the name on my credit card when I paid for my Apple Developer account. A short time later Apple deactivated my account and left it

I've wanted to write some exploratory algorithms for flocking for a long time now. This is just the motivation I need to start working on a silly side project. Thank you, everyone in the comments who submitted source code or demos. You neve

I especially appreciated how, when going from the top of the page down to the bottom, the middle tab would show the down-state briefly, while the browser scrolls to the bottom.

Just a guess, I think there might be some APIs available in SnowLeopard that allow Chrome to write its tabbed content to files and read it in asynchronously more easily than they could have in Leopard. Sometimes when I switch to a tab that

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean it isn't true. Honestly, I don't think blocking paying customers from installing applications and using root permissions effectively is a sound business strategy for the desktop / laptop / OS X mark

A small quibble: the Find My iPhone service is free for all iPhone4 (maybe all?) owners. That is a good point though, although the rule doesn't come into effect until June.

Looking at the recent commits in the last two days, it doesn't look like visionmedia has changed anything for 0.4.0 in particular. If you're interested, you should try it out and file issues appropriately. I'll probably be doing exactly tha

Further proof that mouse events and touch events are not the same. I'm working on a concept for the iPad that is similar and came here hoping that it would work on a touch screen as well, but looks like there's no silver bullet.

Rails is just Ruby. It's not the most complicated language to learn, and you don't need to know much about computers to START developing in ruby or Rails. See? This has nothing to do with platforms, and everything to do with realizing your

So we've progressed from a small subset of the population as sys admins to ... everyone who wants to deploy an application/service being a sys admin? This seems like a step backwards, in some ways. I suppose this is a win for people that ju

Do we really need to keep rehashing how popular jQuery is, and how frequently it is cached client-side from various CDNs? It's not simply that it moves, it's a slick presentation of a very boring element (namely unordered lists).
