Till recently, best and the brightest meant physically fit and having a gumption and desire to achieve something better. So US did get the best and brightest till recently! In today's connected world and population explosion, there is

Agreed! People who think Companies wont go this far, need to look no further than the wage suppression agreement between Adobe, Apple Inc., Google, Intel, Intuit, Pixar, Lucasfilm and eBay. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki

It will take 2 years to get a temporary Green Card. Even after that it take 2+ years to get Permanent Green Card, and it depends on a third party creating and maintaining jobs. So starting now doesn't help in the immediate term :( And

I agree with this. While most people blame Republicans, it's Democrats who have been the biggest enemies of High Skilled Immigrants. There were many situations in the past 8 years, where laws could be passed to benefit High skilled imm

If I want to use it as a write only table where I would like to get virtual indexes for values inside the JSONb column. Would you recommend using Postgres for this usecase?

This is great to know. I usually am able to manage without transactions. So alerts should be pretty fast.

I have extensive experience with MySQL. In fact I used to run a really big social network (70M+ users) based on MySQL db. Main reason we chose Postgres was that JSON fields have been around for a few years. We really like the Mongo feature-

We recently started investing in Postgres because of support of JSON fields and nested indexes in those fields. Should we have chosen MySQL?

I have lived in the Bay Area for 6+ years. Could have bought a house, but the prices seemed crazy in 2014 and look a lot more crazier now. And the prices keep on creeping up higher! All my friends have bought houses. Some of them have bough

I see many comments wondering why does Tesla not recognize stationary objects when it has a forward looking radar. The radar can't distinguish between overhead signs, trees and things on the side of road. It only track moving things, o

I own a Model X. I love the car in many ways. However, I also think the automation is stupider than a 2 year old. Would you trust a 2 year old to drive your car or to decide when to close your Garage door? I use the Auto-Steer, only when ro

There are a few reasons why AirBnb is succeeding and many other gig economies are struggling. 1. AirBnb is a global market place. It’s much more difficult to build a global market place and its much easier to defend your moat once you are a

Probably I used the wrong word. Maybe a better word is no definitive path after getting permanent residency. It depends on the whim and fancy of the local canton. Most countries have a definitive path after getting permanent residency.

Maybe bleeding edge is a better word. They just try a lot more things and find out faster what is working and what isn't working. Most of them turn out to be useless but the ones that work give them an early start.
