At my job we've avoided microservices thus far. 90% of our deployments are just to Heroku. Every now and then I lament in my mind that we aren't using the coolest new tools (Docker, microservices and all the things that come with)

Essentially there was next to no way for me to actually have food I wanted, keep it safely, cook it properly, etc. Sometimes I wanted to make it to a specific destination the next day. Fast food not being an option, setting up a small kitch

Summer 2014 I traveled the US via motorcycle, camping for the majority of the nights. "Real food" takes time. Refrigeration, cooking, cleaning, time, not crushing it in transit... I also don't eat meat (and was vegan that ent

Soylent seems to be under more scrutiny than any other food product I have ever seen. And at the same time, they are being more transparent, and showing more responsibility than any other food company I've seen. We've all gotten n

So I get you're using MIDI (instruction source), but what's the sound source? Just whatever samples your browser uses these days? Or is it using a sample set from a soundcard from that era (Yamaha YM3812, YMF262 or similar found i

If only every country followed things that Norway tried that worked out well in measurable ways (universal health care for one...) By this flow, the US will be the last country with them.

That focus comes largely from the students. They want/need a job asap. Unlike a college freshman who has 4+ years to learn, and has set aside that space in their lives, it isn't uncommon for a student leaving these programs to be

I'm really glad Chris has found a way out of 4Chan, so he can pursue other awesome things. I've only hung out with him a handful of times, but always found him to be a pretty inspiring and funny. On to new things!

You're 100% right across the board. The tension between 'real job skills' and 'things that are good for the sake of learning' are very difficult to balance in a program where an overwhelming majority of students are

One of the hardest things to overcome (even in a programming class) is the why of doing things in Git. Many of the things we do seem arbitrary to students who are just learning. Why do you make multiple commits? Why use branches if you&#x

When I was teaching at General Assembly, I pushed to us to use Github for all of our assignments, workflow, etc. Homework turn-ins were pull requests, feedback was given via comments per-line that any instructor (or student) could make, e

It seems this limitation/concept is something that I haven't seen too much in modern pixel-art. We often see modern pixel art using larger pallets, but just low resolutions.

Same here. My 2011 15" MBP is actually my fastest Mac by many regards. 2.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 + pretty nice GPU. I think I put it at 16GB ram, and installed an SSD. I still use it for all of my music stuff, and it doesn't

I do think building up is a pretty good idea. I just wish it all currently in the Boston area wasn't luxury condos. And the existence of those luxury condos hasn't seemed to deflate the demand on other housing yet. Maybe in time?
