My cardiologist has looked at it when I'm hooked up to a full 12-lead EKG and has noted how pretty solid the measurements seem to be. If it's on a slightly looser setting, sometimes it initially catches only half the tempo for a s

Depends where you live and drive. Some states like Vermont get almost all of their energy from renewables. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/12/24/climate/how-e...

I'd love to see a Chrome plugin for this, to look at text on various sites and flag out of it's likely machine-written.

Zulip (and Zephyr) is indeed much better for threads. You can actually find them to use them later. In Slack, it's more like a side-bar, instead of a topic that you could come back to later and anyone throw into. Whereas I used threads

Yea, that's a good point. It was... well, had a lot of features. Some of them worked. Some of the time. And plenty of sensors to let you know when they weren't. Except when the sensors were the thing that was bad.

I'm remembering how weird of a place (Boston) I'm living in. > This is the New American Home for 2018. It’s a sprawling monstrosity of more than 10,690 feet (the lot encompasses 65,340 square feet). Even properties that Red Sox

I’ve had the opposite experience. A friend took me for a drive in their model 3 recently. At one point we hit around 130mph, and it was the smoothest and quietest ride I’ve ever had at the speed. That being said the BMW 7s I’ve been in were

I've been wanting to write a raycaster, as I've never done it before. Might try doing it in a "slow" language like Ruby that I'm better at at first, and then try it in C. I kinda suck at C these days, but it would b

I don't know for certain. However, I recently read about the Freedoms of the Air, which define international airline abilities to move about in various ways; and some of that includes where you can stop temporarily (fuel planes, etc) a

I've seen too many people say, "Oh, government workers should all know this stuff happens all the time, and if they don't have months or years of savings in the bank then it's just their fault". It's really sad

Maybe I'm reading too far into this, but I think there's a greater lesson to be learned from this. This game's been around for 30 years, and is still under development. Some would assume that security patches on any 30 year o

I’ve wondered for a while with NPR doesn’t have both audio and text of all of their programs. Sometimes I can listen, but not read (driving). Sometimes, I can read but not listen (work, or just when I’m without headphones). I realize they w

I personally find that people in product, sales, upper management, etc... want to push for features, things being easy/fast, etc over everything else. They tell developers to "not worry about it" and force deadlines on them t

I’m mostly shocked that Ultima Underworld isn’t getting more attention. Not as fast paced, but if memory serves me they shipped before Doom, and did some really in depth things for the time considering the hardware and prior titles.

One thing I kept trying to reinforce when I was teaching Rails/Ruby, was that everything in Rails is just Ruby code. Not everything in Ruby is Ruby (some of it's C), but I haven't come across anything in Rails itself that i
