Because those cookies are cleared when the tab is closed and most of the major ad networks (Google, Amazon) forget who you are when that happens. Why worry about it?

Wow, so you're fine with hurting creators who just happen to be drowning in a competitive marketplace? People who don't say those words exist, but you won't find them very easily. There's a reason for that.

These issues happen despite all those things. You can bet that Google has that and more in place. Just like in aerospace engineering, things go wrong when dozens of failures happen across the critical path, not any individual piece.

For the same reason Alphabet named their division Google Health. The brand has baggage but people do trust it to be a world leader in AI and big data (which is what you want from health-tech, right?)

In the event of a stroke, you can hardly take the time to shop around the local hospital market, compare prices and review scores.

These comments crop up regularly on outage posts. There's probably some psychological bias that explains it but I can't remember... I think the last time Google went down there were comments blaming it on Summer Interns :)

Yup, I totally agree. There's also a good chance this total breakdown in culture is partly a symptom of parenting being demonized.

The observed differences is due to choices like having babies and choosing different career paths, but for the same job it's objectively illegal to pay female workers less. The feminists argue by taking the average of all wages, and of

The distinction doesn't really matter though, does it? Makes no different if it's Googlers as opposed to Google itself.

I have to say, I'm kind of creeped out by union dues. It just feels less about workers helping themselves and more like some workers creating a new power structure and job roles that they can enjoy.

It might apply to 99% who have specific requirements, but the vast majority of internet companies need more. Deployments, N+1 redundancy, HA etc... are all valuable, even if some resources are going to waste.

I don't consent to being ugly, but we don't let children get plastic surgery. Poor self esteem is directly linked to mental health, just like gender dysphoria.

Russia isn't a threat to the US. Foreign policy maybe, but not existential like China.

It's less about communication, and more about not hating my job. I'm slowly coming to the conclusion I'd rather work in a bakery or something than WFH as a programmer, because I'd at least be around people.

Being aware that it's happening as an enthusiast and being aware as an Average Joe are very different. We're not having this conversation much in society right now. Defending against fifth generational warfare explicitly requires

China is engaging in fifth generational warfare (information, hacking, economics) against the US. How can you win a war if you don't even know it's happening?

I want the option, because one day my mind might change if I have a family, but right now I absolutely hate WFH as a new-grad. I feel like I've learned almost nothing since March (or if I have, it's taken way too long).

It's not a good solution, but no. We don't allow children to have sex until they're 16, or drink until 18, for valid reason. This is the same situation. Which is that they're not mentally developed enough to consent to t
