No, The Donald moved off of reddit and there were 0 posts for months. Reddit banned them anyway, clearly politically motivated.

Anything conservative. The Donald was a hotbed of whackjobs, but it was also the biggest Trump forum online. They should be allowed to talk freely so the rest of us can laugh, rather than persuing the censorship route so advertisers don

You can be on-call and still do other things -- it's not all or nothing. My workplace has tiered SLOs for on-call, some being as relaxed as O(30 minutes) for first response.

Don't most companies also provide workstations at desks for engineers? I know many who only use their laptop for meetings (until WFH) and it always seemed like a huge waste.

For sure, this is a big reason. I'll be 21 when this is over, this year of youth is never coming back.

I'm going to go against the vibe on this site and agree with him. The next Apple or Google definitely will not come from a remote working startup, and there's undoubtedly a lot of value from in-person collaboration. In a bigger co

Really? It seems to me that you're not understanding the average user at all. Everyone who gets a new computer starts by opening Edge and typing "Chrome download" or less often "Firefox download". Normal people know

> Drivers want benefits and better pay Are you sure? California seems to be speaking for these people. I would like to see a middle ground where drivers can explicitly mark Uber as their job and get benefits. Either way, as an Englishman

Isn't that the whole point of branching off with Alphabet? Seems like a failed experiment if it didn't create a model for new startups to exist under GOOG.

Retired, I presume. Sometimes people just want to spend time with their kids and not have to work all the time. And I'm sure he talks to Sundar Pichai all the time, Alphabet/Google was his baby afterall.

Liberal arts aren't a solid education for survival. I'd rather the major/minor system to allow people to study these things while getting a useful qualification alongside.

US has crony capitalism, not capitalism. A social safety net is completely viable within the capitalist philosophy, and not considered "socialism". Real socialism is dangerous and people are scared of it for a reason.

Not really, it's just life. Unions are a horrible solution and should be avoided at all costs because they're a competitive disadvantage and will sink the company long term. The better solution is to pour money into creating more

They can't legally enforce it because the BBC guy has no special power to inspect your telly set and it's not technically a tax (as long as you don't consume BBC content). They also include YouTube/iPlayer consumption of

The actual org is small, but it's caused thousands to pull their license fee, which is no small sum of money for the Beeb. It's not like they're rolling in profit.

Except for the Defund the BBC movement that's going on right now... I'm skeptical any government funded broadcaster is sustainable when it just turns into a propaganda outlet for the establishment.
