I do believe that should've also been in their threat model - these guys should've acted like they were hosting The Pirate Bay 2 given the state of American politics. For instance, they could've had a low-traffic backup in re

As much as I don't like Parler's digital death sentence from Silicon Valley, they should've known this was coming and prepared. It doesn't take a genius to know that such a controversial website is going to get dropped,

I think the poster means that Hillary Clinton has a habit of glorifying violence, as do most US politicians.

I did not create a throwaway to troll, but for safety. People have tried to harass me out of my job for being a conservative (not Trumper) before. > I find it mind numbing that the same people that want to live on Parler because "fr

Yup that's pretty much it. To Monzo's credit they seem to make a point to work without Google Play Services, but iOS users would be screwed in the event the App Store was blocked.

Why is a moderation strategy required at all? If I wanted to create a platform which followed US law and nothing else, I would be instantly deplatformed. Really, all I need is a legal department.

Many banks don't provide HTTP endpoints (except for business versions). My bank, Monzo, does not. My other bank TSB does provide a website, but it's awful.

Eh, investing in something like a Mars mission could return on investment many times here on Earth, that might solve those problems quicker. E.g. vertical farming tech.

If we condemn it for one, we must condemn it for all. Or is egalitarianism (even for the worst people) no longer a principle most people uphold?

You know, if these people weren't pushed off the mainstream platforms they may have been de-radicalized by regular people before things got worse. Just look at how QAnon festered underground until it was too late to get rid of.
