mask wearing and mask guidance is 100% different in asia - a big emphasis of their control strategies as well.

Masks work, masks are low impact on daily living, masks are used successfully overseas by countries that didn't lock down their society (tawain / Singapore etc) - huge empahsis on masks including govt run websites with live maps s

It's funny, if you watch a show about farmers in the US - when they talk about farm product prices you are like - huh, how is this product so CHEAP? Seriously - the great increase in wheat prices brings it to 8 cents per pound in the

Don't countries like ethopia skim the foreign currency sales of things like coffee in various ways (ie, low official exchange rate, then elites can resell at higher black market rate and give farmers the less valuable local currency).

Nicw. I'm still going into a docker for linux on windows dev but want to play with using WSL2 for this cycle (deploy is to linux machines / container images). Mostly just need to figure out tooling setup (pycharm / vs code)

I was basing this off first person accounts from ex-pats in asia - the big message was that masks are now worn both as a courtesy to others and in some cases are required and kids don't like to wear masks - which makes it tricky when t

Wow! Fascinating! So wrong so many times - I did not know this history. You can see how having this guy on TV re-assuring people starts to reduce confidence people have in "authoritative" news sources - and they end up on the inte

Like it! Maybe train people not to touch their face and in higher risk situations (think public transit with lots of touching or bigger group events) add a mask as another layer of protection and a reminder.

I think it was for this reason - the focus should really be on increasing supply and encouraging mask use if there is effectiveness. South Korea went this route -> masks are in the post offices and other govt buildings to increase distri

We are closing schools and you are saying masks ONLY help when someone sneezes right at you - TOTALLY false. Masks are an absolutely basic viral control measure. Seriously, a virus is on a surface, you touch a surface, then you touch your m

No surprise. We had Larry Kudlow saying a week or two ago that the virus was "fully contained" in the US. [1] We had the CDC take down the number of folks tested from their website because it was embarrassingly low and different t

Someone else suggested the same thing actually. Easy to get lazy when it "just works" and internet is 1gig home and office - you can see how bloat just builds up.

Every reasonable study shows masks being useful. It's why everyone wears them in a medical setting. They are not a guarantee by any means, but you can layer risk reductions. Remind people not to touch their face. Put a surgical mask to

I use fargate and pretty happy with it. Don't need big scale out - it supports $1M/year revenue so not huge, but LOVE the simplicity. I just have the CLI commands in my dockerfiles as comments, so once I get things sorted locally
