MQTT and CoAP both support TLS. With TLS 1.2 you've got elliptic ciphers which puts it in reach of small embedded devices. So TLS with server certificates are enough to ensure confidentiality and server authenticity. Client certifica

I noticed on [1] that you list 8.8.9.9 as Google's DNS server. Did you mean 8.8.4.4? If I `dig @8.8.9.9 ..` I get no response. [1] https://startyourownisp.com/posts/build-your-infrastructure/

Those benefits are mostly a feature of the Octavo SIP (I think!) Unfortunately in my case, I want to use it in a product with wired ethernet, so a PocketBeagle limited to a USB or SPI ethernet device because the it doesn't expose the p

I followed Olimex's instructions [1] for their AM352-SOM, which is very similar to the BBB. From those instructions it's not difficult to build a working kernel, u-boot and debian-based rootfs. In fact, I highly recommend this ro

People keep mentioning tree-style tab but I don't see how that's an alternative to TMP's multiple tab rows. Personally I don't find tree-style tabs appealing at all because (1) I usually have few pages open on the same

Same here. Tab mix plus (for multiple tab rows) is the reason I kept using FF all these years. WebExtensions does not provide the capability to manipulate tabs the way TMP did.

Any informed commentary on the pros/ cons of this vs cluster? As far as I can see, cluster workers are all uniform (no task-specific pools) and cluster has no broadcast (just `worker.send(message)`.)

Hi Erik - why are the SIPs ~ $30-40 in quantity on DigiKey while the PocketBeagle is only $25? We're currently using Olimex's Am3352-SOM module in a product, and the Octavo SIP makes it simple enough to do a board down instead of

In the case of teensy you've pretty much got just a chip with breakout (and maybe an FTDI chip) - it's pretty much a reference design. At that point you'd just board-down that entire layout, there's little benefit to bu

You might be surprised to learn that all power plants have some sort of primitive "networking" capability, albeit something that looks more like a direct point-to-point phone line between plants and the grid operator (see DNP3.)

A similar process is building a custom kernel and rootfs for an ARM device such as the beaglebone. Olimex actually has a good tutorial for their device: https://www.olimex.com/wiki/AM335x This is only slightly more co
