I've never had a language click with me the way ruby has, I use it for basically any task that isn't low level. I have never liked python at all despite them being quite similar. Do whatever makes you happiest and most productive.

As a user who frequently wants to change the rendering, I don't think I would have ever thought to look under share. I associate the 'share' section with tracking code and buttons for social networks.

I think you are making an assumption of shared value. To many trump supporters the idea that international approval matters is somehow repugnant.

Given the rise of automation, it should be far harder to migrate. Situations change, why shouldn't our immigration policy?

Would you be willing to provide some examples or definitions for left/right/neither? I'm having a little bit of analysis paralysis on the registration page. Is there an RSS feed I'm missing? This is the exact kind of pro

Diversity should mean a mixture of people with different views and experience. Too often it it means hiring an expensive diversity consultant to avoid a public shame shakedown.

I suspect that there is an initial hump where investment in automated farm labor will need to take place, but after the hump it won't be rational to go back. Of course this is all speculation on my part.

The solution to the gender gap is to fundamentally change how work is done. I'm glad it was that simple.

I really like the concept of Atom, but it always feels slow compared to VI. I think it's psychological though, because I can't point to any part of it and say "This is slow".

Software is no more political that 2 + 2 = 4, it's just computation applied. If we start dragging politics into it we will destroy things like open source that exist only because anyone can anonymously contribute without their race

Everyone has been doing that forever. The petrol engineer simply competes with the horse feed industry.

Would you be willing to elaborate on why the state should run schools? I am probably as extreme the other way as it is possible to be, but I'd like to understand where you are coming from.

It's kind of a shame, one of the thing I value most about working in tech is the apolitical stance a lot of companies take.

Why should their drivers participate in a union strike without being in the union? If anything Uber looks more palatable to me because they were available when other options stopped.

Clearly we don't, at least for values of society that include this strike?

I think it helps to imagine the opposite, a founder being radically pro-trump. I still think it's ok, but it seems like a poor representation of the company.

Honestly I've just re-adopted IRC. Instant Messengers like Google Talk, and Group Chat apps like Slack come and go along with their walled gardens, but IRC just keeps on keeping on.

Software isn't politics anymore than physics is politics. The atom bomb had huge political effects but the fact that atoms release energy when split is not. The only reason software has become political is because it is in the best int

A lot of the money held me the wealthy isn't competing with me for potatoes. I could be wrong but if ever single person had 1,000$ more, wouldn't the price of basic goods go up to accommodate?
