Whoa I am about to save you so much time! You totally can view the response, just go to the 'Resources' tab, choose 'XHR' from the top bar (or not, but it's easier). Now cause a request. You'll see it pop up in the list on the left and yo

It takes a bit to get used to if you're a Firefox 'poweruser' and I'm not sure 'Web Inspector' is quite to the maturity of Firebug yet... Still, it's my primary browser. One cool thing not to miss is in the unified location bar, it does som

The statement is definitely a bit sensationalist. That said, yes . Even non-techy people I've seen checking out chrome comment on the speed and how much they like the UI.

I'm not sure I get that first one. The reason, IMO of course, that the iPad rotates to any orientation is just for personal preferences. I only ever hold mine in one of two orientations (button at bottom, button at left) and thus I am never

The authors of this article apparently haven't heard of Pirates of Silicon Valley , which is unfortunate because considering their opinion on The Social Network they would probably love it.

Yea the ping-ing thing is what stopped me. I need to test it as un-live as it gets, on my local development instance, before I start pitching this stuff to my boss. I'll shoot you an email. Thanks. edit : Or, I would, but you don't seem to

Looks very nice, design-wise -- unfortunately I can't actually try it out because I'm not willing to put your javascript directly on my production site without experimenting first. I get that your app needs access to do it's thing, so I'm n

Very interesting, thanks! If you happen to see this reply -- I have one last question you may have input on. My friend Google has been of limited use in figuring out the positioning of plasma when it comes to gaming. Not just burn-in (HUD's

Interesting. I've always avoided them because of burn in -- it doesn't happen all that often but occasionally a friend comes over or something and leaves rock band or a dvd at the title screen as we're going out somewhere and I don't notice

I don't think I agree with a blanket statement like this. Features of a language can be used to make the code easier to read, if that's your goal (eg, to have other people read it and understand it -- including your future self). Sometime

You're right. Personally in the case where I don't want to vote for anyone (most of the time) I go down to the booth and 'ruin' my ballot. The number of ruined ballots is sometimes counted and sometimes not, but at least the effort is made

I suppose it depends on your definition of 'destroyed', then. Personally, any kid of mine who I would consider chaining to a bed would be in rehab without a second thought -- on the other hand, smoking seems so innocuous that before you kno

Well, it's not only about style. IE9 adds rounded corners but still skips a lot of modern features in HTML5 that simply can't be used reliably by anyone due to IE not supporting them. IE is like a over-turned transport truck across 3

It's mostly style that's the problem. IE8 is better but you don't get any niceties (rounded corners, etc). IE9 looks like it will be marginally better (eg, you now get rounded corners, but not much else).

The title of a job posting does not encourage or influence the way I act... They're just trying to differentiate themselves from the mundane 'Java Developer w/ 2 years exp' jobs, that's all. It's really, really not a big deal. I'm really

What's the big deal? It's just a bit of fun. If one doesn't like the attitude that a 'rock star' job posting conveys then one should simply not apply.

That's exactly the point, they aren't . It's just a buzzword to draw attention to a job posting just like "senior" or "experienced" were before it. No reason to start the hype machine up over this stuff, if you ask me.

I guess you're getting downvoted because of the 'ethically questionable' suggestions you're making. Strictly in terms of making profit, I think you're spot on.
