It's a great idea but I would expect a letter from Facebook's lawyers regarding the use of the name 'Facebook' in your product (you use the API, so that's against their terms of use) and the use of their logo in your logo. Good luck!

If you are trying to get 'priority' or early access to the site/service then you have no idea if your friends will like it. You don't even know if you like it yet.

This sort of attitude is not the norm in the general population (citation needed? Ask your non-programmer friends). No one is forcing you to use a site that requires Facebook, but obviously (based on the comments here like yours) companies

It's clearly a huge security flaw, but as you say -- only within the context of twitter. Looking at the big picture of my life something like this doesn't even register. What's the worst thing that could happen, really? A popup? Maybe my ac

I don't have extensive experience with either (just some toys and experiments really) but Mojo just feels so much cleaner. If you read the front page it talks about how it's 'fresh code' by people with experience working on Catalyst itself

So, if you really need to run your node app right now why not just grab a prgmr or Linode instance...?

Definitely. Where I live (Toronto) credit reports used for most things only have information like: "missed a payment in the last 30/60/120 days -- yes/no" and that's it. Pls, as above, most banks wont actually bother reporting a 1-day late

Really? Personally I'd guess Zuckerberg will never even read this story... and if he did I doubt he'd care.

The problem is that while they're happy to sell you 5GB, they will do pretty much anything and everything they can to make sure you don't actually use 5GB.

How about 'Reliability'. Their API is constantly changing in what seems like random ways, and after updates there are always a couple weeks where everything is incredibly flaky.

Shih also brought up the example of the competition between video tape formats, pointing out that the open VHS standard won against the closed Betamax format. So, to paraphrase, "stick with Acer because the best man doesn't always win"? :

'When' the bombs fall they likely wont be targeted at remote areas of Iceland, some could pretty easily survive. After that they could probably survive at least long enough for some kids to gossip - "I heard those things blew it all up!"

I'm not sure I'm with you here. A lot of offices have really old computers purchased around the time of Windows XP SP1 and the version of flash shipped on those will leave quite a lot to be desired. So maybe I should have said it's like say

I see what you're saying and I don't pretend to be an expert (or even very knowledgeable in general) on the subject. All I meant was that ethics are a very personal thing and what's 'right' to one person may not (and, if you ask me, should

That's the best thing about ethics, if you convinced yourself it was ethical then it was ethical for you. For someone else maybe, maybe not. Everyone gets their own, entirely personally prioritized set :)

That sounds like too much software to me. What's with the aversion to scp? You only have to do it once per box you set up... There's something to be said for having GitHub do everything 1000% for you, but there's also something to the unix
