Amen! I use either an Apple aluminum keyboard (these days it's just 'command' and doesn't have an apple on it) or something completely blank.

Yea that too. I've heard bad things, but I've never even attempted it myself. Years of Windows has built up some serious negative reinforcement here :)

'Enough'? Understatement. It's practically perfect. Sure it's not your gaming rig or fit for Final Cut Pro, so that could change things if this sounds like you... but as a developer it easily trumps every machine I've ever owned.

As a fellow day-job-using Ubuntu user, I'm with you. In fact, it's not just this release, I always wait a bit to upgrade, since the general consensus seems to be that fresh Ubuntu's are often a bit touchy :)

Agreed, not only that but you can't even login right now , so in another week all 60M users are supposed to remember to go and futz around with the PS3's clunky account UI to change their password? Personally, I have a couple passwords in

Sweet, looks awesome. Btw, on a positive stylistic note. I love the big container and big text. Too many sites these days have tiny microscopic text -- I couldn't read that stuff if my life depended on it, and my eyes are 20/20! :)

Hi there, thanks for this, I've been looking for something self-contained-ish to point friends to when asking about node. One thing, the site is really messed up in browsers that aren't super wide. My browser is ~1100px wide and the size/po

Apple does have one advantage: the vast majority of OSX users upgrade. While tons of people (most, even) are still using XP and Vista over 7.

Seems like the primary motivator for doing this would be the 'native'-ness (all the hardware acceleration and whatnot) - and so maybe someone should tell Microsoft that we don't care about all that, what percentage of websites need that s

I use HN to hear about news and read interesting articles, and also to occasionally engage in conversation. Points on comments have absolutely no bearing on being able to do that, so I didn't even notice at first that they were gone. It is

If you don't have a method of running JS available then everything will be as it was. This change only introduces the default contents of a rails app's Gemfile (/bundle) and it's generators.

Ok but you don't have to 'change' any 'defaults' to use regular plain javascript. You just don't write coffeescript. The new 'default' is to include the coffeescript dependency and generate script stubs with a .coffee extension. Write a j

Re-running a selector and wrapping an element in the jQuery object aren't even close to the same thing: https://github.com/jquery/jquery/blob/master/src/core.js#L67 Wrapping elements in event handlers is completely fine .

He can say what he wants, is the thing. When you reply to a "why didn't you take the job with us?" feedback request, you can be as succinct/diplomatic as you think is appropriate. The OP did the same.

As he says at the end, one would obviously not just stick a big stack of `link`s in the page. Some kind of build system/asset packager would be necessary and desired (so you aren't forced to write a huge monolithic css file that no one but

Hey thanks a lot for the feedback. On pricing: This is a real concern, so I hear you. We've considered the cost of data storage and are fairly confident in the model. In the unlikely event that 100 accounts use 10GB each, we'll be doing fin

Saying 'fast-paced' usually (in my experience) is a claim that the team doesn't get hung up and blocked on a bunch of minute details and 'sign-offs'. In other words - there's no committee. Even if that isn't the norm, putting so much stock
