So when I read the title I tried to guess what the reason was going to be -- but it was really hard. All I could come up with that was reasonably plausible was: "To prove the people who say there are no women in tech wrong." You can imagine

Feels to me like a browser that isn't cross-platform doesn't have much legs in 2011 (at least Safari can pull the WebKit card)... I use multiple platforms every day and it just doesn't make much sense to use a different browser on each one.

Also check out Elixir ( https://github.com/josevalim/elixir ) or Efene ( https://github.com/marianoguerra/efene ).

I was mostly with you until the part about the 'best [iPad] possible'. Making every part in a device like the iPad replaceable would not make a very nice product at all. Ever used an off-the-shelf Dell? You can upgrade it forever, but it's

Replaced != Obsolete iPad's are still fully functional and can even still be purchased. I plan on keeping mine for at least another year.

I definitely agree. It matters more that there is a sane limit than what that limit actually is . Your 113 column files look good to me.

Odd. my 'visual user interface' for editing text is still about 80 characters wide. I just get to decide on how many pixels that is now with fonts/sizes/etc. I'm not sure why I'd want more horizontal room than that - readability begins to s

The point is that mum and neice will look good -- you don't need a 12MP camera to do that.

Honestly? That would have to be a really crappy camera if it wasn't good enough for basic video chatting. You wont even notice unless the resolution is lower than the resolution of the device (highly unlikely).

Of course. I definitely agree memory is good. All I'm trying to say is that Apple's typical consumer customer doesn't care about the numbers. They need enough memory to have a good experience, Apple attempts to supply that experience withou

Agreed. And on the resolution point, as mentioned several times by daringfireball[1] and others, the only way Apple will up the density is if it's doubled . Why? Because it's the only thing that makes sense. Less than double = terrible sca

I'm saying that when they can make those things a good experience, they do. They add memory when they can get it in sufficient supply and it doesn't increase the price too much. They add OTA such-and-such as they have appropriate methods of

Does anyone care about any of these points? Wires? Yea, we still need wires for some things. Apple doesn't do stuff that's not going to be a good experience. Memory? ...don't know, don't care how much memory is in my original iPad - I only

That only happens if you end up with no results (eg, you didn't really grasp what to search for). Eg: http://adioso.com/search?q=france -- does not show that bar.

When you start it up you get a 'blank' project. So just go to Project -> Add Folder to Project... and you're done. In fact, it even remembers this so you're good for as long as you want to be single-project, too.

That's a pretty good one. Here's another: Purchase home in warmer climate and sell current home. Arrange move of belongings and family members. Leave the shovel. Perform the actual move via plane/car/other appropriate method of transport.

Nothing wrong with 'bashing'. Plenty of open source projects I would gladly say 'suck' but this isn't what I'm talking about. I was referring to comments like this: "This should have been fixed on priority" and "WHY HASNT THIS ISSUE BEEN FI

Yea sorry $15/month (EBS is practically free, as is Elastic IP), but anyway my point still stands at $30/month. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a developer who doesn't spend that much on coffee per month (not to mention merchant accou

You just have to tilt your head a bit and realize that you do need more than one server. For example - I don't know about you but I don't want to take down the site to deploy everytime I have to update some code (esp in the early days, th

What's with the aversion to replicas? I have an app I'm working on launching right now, it's in what you might call 'private beta': real people accessing the app is <10. It's been in this state for a little less than 2 months and there'

No news here. One makes a copyright-infringement claim and Apple handles it the only sensible way it can: look into it and act on the findings. Side-note/Word to the wise: Avoid scrolling down and reading the comments on this site at all co

Mine was definitely not reset, and I don't have a gawker account. My wife's account was also not affected (and likewise, she has no gawker account). Considering the availability of the list of email addresses it would be pretty silly to for

Definitely a possibility. There are some alternatives now though, like the list[1] of MD5'd emails that has been circulating that you can use to check against. That's how I confirmed that I wasn't in there, personally. [1]: http://www.goog

The most interesting thing about this to me is that they're obviously only emailing people who's emails were in the gawker data. Eg: I didn't receive one of these because I don't have a gawker account. Very cool.
