EU has a LOT more truck volume (both in terms of per capita and percentage of freight shipped by truck). This has some complex and not so obvious implications on how long things get hauled. The smaller trucks also make it more economical

Correct, it has been proven many times that the lack of blindspot directly in front of the vehicle (to the driver) is the main factor. New "stubby" nose school bus designs greatly improved this over existing ones which were close

Ford used to make some cab-over semi trucks that were very popular in the US during the 80's and early 90's and resembled very closely the European designs of today. I think it's pretty obvious and comes down to a few things:

Taking this post to publicly shame a recruiting technique I was victim to: I entertained a reference check call by a recruiting firm (not standard but he was a good coworker and it was a serious position with a serious company). The interv

Tesla's installed cost on a supercharger is $20k, that includes manufacturing, transport, installation and anything else needed at the supercharger station. There's no reason on earth that dc charger would be $250k a piece. That i

It's included in the above calculator by PG&E. They have an hourly-rate all-in plan for EV charging which rolls in power demand and energy.

A simple AC->DC rectifier/transformer and some voltage regulation banks + integrated circuits and 10ft of cables should not be a $200,000 a piece. I can almost guarantee you Tesla's BOM (at least for their 72KW supercharger) i

I added the discounted membership cost, again it's still pretty heavily marked up over the cost of that power being charged to the stations (which is way lower than you PG&E peak residential rates). edit: You can head to the busine

If anyone here has charged outside the tesla network for a non-tesla EV, the prices being charged for electricity is absurd. I've heard rates as high as 45c/kWh. How can the government be hellbent on giving EV tax credits and inc

This is a fatal mistake that the Automotive (and many, many others) who live, breath and preach JIT/6sigma/lean have made. The methodology simply doesn't work when the lead time for design-to-delivery is 18 months and you ne

I've hated Intel for a nearly a decade leading up to the Pandemic (My last intel system was an i7-3960x). Since the beginning of this chip shortage supply chain nightmare however, I've become very bullish on Intel. They are one o

It's not abysmal when you consider the standard (signaling, ECC) has to work over 80+km range in some cases. You'd be hard pressed to get a pci link to work over 10M. That being said, I generally agree that it has been moving too

Yeah it can be emulated many ways just curious if anyone has actually modified or built the original source to arm target natively. The reply above (currently second) has links to forks that build from source to arm (for switch and android)

Just taking a minute here to say that Eyeo went on a copyright offensive to all ad blockers with "ad block" in the name saying it infringed on their brand. Very bad actors in this space, and their motivation here in this suit is t

The goal is that both partners (downstream) and suppliers (upstream) are aware that they should not be sourcing/supplying these regions, and that if Intel is made aware of it, they will have to enforce such embargos in both directions.

It is for it's suppliers and partners. Examples of this would be Intel supplying chips to Lenovo, who are based in Beijing and who may have some components sources from that region, or Intel's fabs sourcing Silicon or other manuf

Yeah not reading anywhere in the docs that it works without qemu. Also the need for kennel modules to be available on the host and passed through makes it less portable than most containers.

A 30W panel would need about 6 full hours of sun to fully charge that battery from 0-100. Lead acid can charge fairly quickly and can suck up that 30W input pretty easily.

They are comparing 3 weeks after second dose and 4 weeks after 3rd dose. Presumably efficacy drop over time after vaccination is not in scope. Not enough time has passed under observation to actually determine if it will wane similarly.
