So the author both learned persistence and the toleration of frustration but also admits to turning in half-done homeworks (if at all), half-assing midterms and generally not trying hard. Or maybe this is just-so story without much merit.

The example of Neverwinter Nights was already mentioned but my favorite example of radial menus is from a similar game The Temple of Elemental Evil, also based on DnD but this time fully turn based. Beautiful menus that were entirely text b

On the other hand, I feel almost nauseous every time I see a panning shot in a standard 24fps film. They look choppy to an extreme that makes me wonder how anyone let that through production but I guess it's just standard now. I would

No, it's not because people consider it imaginary or non-productive: it's because they consider it insufficiently productive for what it costs the globe and that the rewards are obviously localized while the costs are global.

So this is veering off-topic: I remember but cannot for the life of me find a blog post from Google about either the number of bytes in their front page or the number of words on the front page. Apparently there was some guy who would email

Yeah that would be a good course to learn it - functional analysis is basically linear algebra on infinite dimensional vector spaces. (Though that sells it a little short - moving to infinite dimensional vector spaces requires incorporatin

And they exist in situations where determinants are difficult or impossible to define! Infinite dimensional vector spaces can still have transformations with eigenvectors but you generally can't define a determinant coherently for them

The author is missing the most obvious rule that they should have taken away from their experience: don't use the number and email provided by the candidate. Jim's email or number is probably readily available on the company websi

Surely this is better explained as just another instance of best-player-of-most-popular-sport-is-popular? The same dynamic happens in countries where the considerably less violent of the two "footballs" is played. And star basketb

Here's a possibly dumb proposal: don't support wheelchairs on buses, instead give them a city/state-run uber-for-wheelchairs service. The problem is that supporting wheelchairs adds an inordinate burden to buses and makes sti

I feel like the real motivation behind this is that far too many people believe that the hard part of getting solar panels adopted is in finding places to put them. So this law "solves" the problem. But that's never been the
