Questions too! I kinda love the ones that are like "Is compassion the key to an expanded conscience?" with the top answer being "Yes, as I explain in my book Compassion: The Key to an Expanded Conscience".

It's a good question, but the article claims there's a compensation: "when connectivity between the hemispheres is high, connectivity within each hemisphere is relatively low, and vice versa". There's no reason that

What 40% immunity number? I don't see that in the article here.

Does falling death rates really indicate widespread immunity? I'd like to see the randomized immunology tests to back that up (maybe he has them, but this article doesn't indicate it). I haven't heard of anywhere near herd-im

Apparently one of my all-time favorite bands is named after the message sent in this message, The Evpatoria Report. I haven't listened to them in a while, so it was a nice reminder seeing this. https://youtu.be/GazWRcrw

I recall clicking a Duluth Trading link from a thread not so unlike this on HN years ago and then being followed by ads for their jeans across the internet for at least a year. Of course, I remember that just after clicking your link.

Yes but how much is the subsidy and how much goes towards expenses the hospital only has due to the resident? For example the subsidy also covers the resident's malpractice insurance but the hospital isn't profiting from that. It

Presumably most of the subsidy goes toward paying the resident, so most of the value to the hospital of the residency is the work done by the resident.

I'm not convinced. Merriam Webster seems consistent with the article's interpretation saying that it is meant ironic. The examples given by you and others in this thread of "encourage" meaning to force doesn't rule

Contrary to what others are saying here, the author says the following: > A rigorous course in linear algebra is an absolute necessity. In the early chapters, one may be able to avoid the need for a modern algebra course but not the matu

In what sense would rounding of sales taxes be in the favor of companies? Surely it goes to the government, not the company.

My understanding is that most proposals for UBI would be funded by raising taxes making it a net-positive income increase only for the "poorest" families (the bottom X% of tax payers, for some X). So the only difference here seems
