I think the takeaway is that IQ is not comparable between individuals, but is comparable between points in time of one individual.

Sure, and now everyone knows to shred documents more thoroughly than Enron did. Although I agree. A company should be managed such that moral transgressions that happen in lower levels should not be possible. That's exactly the reasoni

To what end? Xi Jinping can just wait until the next president to negotiate away the tariffs. The public certainly hates them. Right or left, I don't see how anyone can see these surviving through another administration.

Arbitration keeps the court system less full. It has a purpose that everyone ignores. How about solving the underlying problem that brought about arbitration: courts being saddled by too many frivolous lawsuits?

I'm saying this more in regard to the current crop of candidates because it's more obvious and egregious that there are some running for President right now that are doing it for attention and money. Although you're right. Th

The only problem with elections right now is Citizens United. Does anyone honestly believe that the Democratic nominees on the left are all running because they think they can win? Or can we agree that the ability to raise endless money and

Books are low-margin. They're not profitable enough to sell on their own most of the time.

4chan doesn't exist to make a profit though. It only needs to get enough money to keep the lights on.

Because if you can't FizzBuzz, you definitely aren't going to be able to pick up the codebase in a satisfactorily short amount of time. If you come in in gross clothes and swear, you're not going to fit the company culture. I

It's a well-written article that's reasonably fun to read, if anyone has five minutes to spare.

No one would care if this were just a story about suicide. This is a story that sympathetically portrays a girl who kills herself to make others feel sorry for her.

"Social justice" doesn't mean anything. It's, at best, a metaphor. Those words don't mean anything apart from the movement because otherwise, there would be a social government and a canonical social code. It's

If no one fights off the Somali pirates, then no one can sail their shipping boats through those passages, and the US turns a net profit by fending off the Somali pirates because no one else can/will do it. That said, it still sucks th

I'm not saying America doesn't do any racketeering. I am saying that they get the job done though, and the job sucks.

The implicit argument is that it takes 10 years to do this. Is that how it works in reality? If it was a month, no one would care.

Let's be clear. Being the world's military titan is not a desirable job. Someone has to fend off the Somali pirates, but it's not glamorous and everyone benefits equally from it (as in not just the US).

I struggle to see how this can be seen as a bellwether of the economy. 3M sells things that should be reasonably recession-proof: people don't stop buying scotch tape in hard times.

Worth a read to see how this is one of the most misleading headlines of all time. He's not a student if he's never set foot in the school. In fact, he wasn't even an American citizen. He just got accepted to the school.

This isn't a complicated problem. State election agencies are underfunded and have to cut corners in order to survive. A simple federal cash infusion would solve 70% of this problem. The other 30% is coming up with sufficient election

I fail to see how this solves the root cause of the problem such that we won't see another student debt bubble arise again in 20 years. Students loans must be dischargeable via bankruptcy. Until that happens, student loans will continu

We don't live in a rich modern secular society. Perhaps 10% of the US population does, but much of it lives at a low-middle class level where having kids is more of a luxury than a choice.
