Lot's of assumptions here, like for example this: > Assuming each neuron has a fan-out of 1000, aka 1000 MACs, that’s 2000 FLOPS per neuron Human neurons are not built like we build the artificial neural networks. They may have comp

I wonder if in current climate this could be prosecuted as a market manipulation of sorts. Things were different back then though.

Thanks, I understand now what you meant by actionspace. > this is the reason that lots of advice sounds banal. This is the part I'm not getting. Definition of `banal` is: > so lacking in originality as to be obvious and boring. O

Do you require a full-blown argument for every piece of advice or information you ever hear? You are supposed to weigh it yourself and see if you find it applicable to your situation or not. I think this list is great exactly for this reaso

It is hilarious that a button called "zoom" only does "zoom" when you use its alternative functionality and by default does something completely different.

How do you handle a situation where the attacker gains access to decrypted set of secrets and steals them? Can you prevent this scenario in any way, or does single hacked admin results in a complete compromise with no way to recover?

I feel for you. Security is a complex, evolving topic, with a dizzying array of concepts. At work, we develop Teleport ( https://goteleport.com/ ) to provide a secure access solution that is also easy to use and hard to get w

I miss the good old days before passwords were a thing and everyone just trusted others to behave ;-) You can secure access to Github (and other places) with hardware keys, e.g. from https://www.yubico.com/ .

Tailscale (and other similar solutions) works on the network level. This is not a bad idea in itself, but SSH certs operate on the application level. The fact you can ping the server shouldn't mean you are allowed to actually access it

Pretty sure you need powerful lenses to do useful things though, but who knows, maybe this is workable with some image processing of multiple satellite feeds?

Parsing nested parens requires stack, which humans are vary bad at handling. So writing in this style will be harder to read compared to linear style that people are used to. There are topics inherently nonlinear, but they are often lineari

Nowhere in my comment did I suggest a timeline for the design change to happen. Yes, it will take years, but it cannot happen at all if the device manufacturers keep blaming others for their poor designs.

A warning is good thing, but the drama is less welcome. Blaming Apple is absurd too: the defibrillators have built-in kill switch that responds to strong magnetic fields. At the time where this was designed it was concluded that it is very

Regenerative braking works for electric cars because it is super easy to convert movement into electric energy. This isn't true for most other sources of energy H2 and petrol included. Reversing combustion is kind of hard and takes up

The bikes are nice idea, but hardly panacea. You need to design the city around it (costly, conflicts with other usages), isn't possible for variety of people (age, disability, distance). I used to drive 40km to work every day in singl

While good public transport helps to cut the carbon emissions, it also isn't free and can only be established above certain population density. This creates pressure for people to live in a big cities and that causes a lot of problems.

How exactly is it outrageous? You are there to deliver the message in a meaningful way, not to recite such message from memory. This is no theater or the cinema where you are playing a role and must be entirely authentic as a result. Sure,
