Whenever I hear about Operating Systems, it reminds me of a comic on how a programmer evaluates the resume of another programmer and one of the items is OS / Compiler development experience is highly valued. So, on a related note, would you

tl; dr: Write email. Copy to USB. Give it to courier who takes it to a distant internet cafe and sends it out. Incoming email is copied into the same USB and delivered back.

Why are so many people using Google tasks ? Give alternatives like Workflowy a chance? Evernote works much better than GTasks even if it's not designed for it.

I'm conflicted. On one hand, I agree with his rant on other tech journalists / editors, but on the other hand, what he's essentially saying is, bias on his part is okay, or even expected, if the company he's writing about is one that he's i

Completely offtopic, but every time I open one of your articles, my first point of focus goes on to the photo on the side. Was this intentional or an accident? It's really cool though, normally I don't pay attention to who wrote an article,

Hi! Was looking through your website, it doesn't say anything about sponsoring H1Bs. Do you do visa transfers if someone's already working in the US?

Can +1 with my anecdotal evidence too. Indian vegetarian diet is pretty heavy on lentils. They're not that bad :)

Mostly it's just the Android / iOS docs or stackoverflow up to help me out. But the urge to hit Cmd-T is just too bad.

It's interesting that you mention multiple monitors. Despite all cases made for programmer productivity and screen real-estate, I find that having a browser window up, starting at me in my second monitor while I try to code on my main scree

Actually, I honestly think the bias is on your side this time. You're assuming that you're nice and therefore everyone else is nice like you. I've actually walked into an enterprise (the car rental company) and found one of their cards lyin

Actually, I've experienced something similar when moving from India to the US. In India, you just walk into a store, and say I need x, y, z and get out of the store unless you know the owner of the store personally (in which case, the trans

True, I can see Variable insurance premiums based on your likes / friends, it _is_ a scary prospect. I guess a similar problem applies to any form of insurance. I don't know if it's wrong to do that though, if it leads to lower insurance pr

On a slightly unrelated note, are there any UX/UI books that are targetted for programmers? I'm a complete noob with photoshopping and can't create a button to save my life. Working on side projects, this is really annoying.

I also find the Stackexchange sites generally give me more relevant answers faster. The advantage of having a beta time where a core group users get to explicitly state their interest perhaps?
