Which it hasn’t been because there are alternative app stores, payment processors and sideloading.

How can you know that it’s the most successful store in the absence of any competition at all? You don’t have a choice. The App Store app comes preinstalled on iPhones and iPads and you cannot choose any other store, so no wonder it’s succ

This is still not good enough because as Apple demonstrated last week, they can capriciously remove access for any developer at any time for any reason at all. They need to be removed completely from the code signing and publishing process

There’s no way that the EU permits Apple to control this going forwards.

This argument is trotted out frequently and it misses the point. These are NOT Apple’s customers. Yes they bought the phone from Apple but they are Epic’s customers. No one wants Apple inserting themselves in the middle of the transaction.

There’s no way the EU allows Apple’s interpretation of the DMA after they did this, Apple really made a mistake here. As you say, how can you be sure that alternative app stores won’t just be booted off by Apple for $REASON?

The reverse of that argument is that if you work from home, your immune system doesn’t have a chance to learn about the newest bugs and so you’re more vulnerable in the future.

If you allow them to subscribe in the iOS app, then yes. Just don’t offer that option.

No it isn’t just about selling out. It’s to unseat incumbents, deliver better products, make a difference. What do you think Google would have turned out like if Yahoo had bought them for $1m in 1996?

Why would you pay $8 month per user for this when you can just get Google Workspace for the same price with Google Chat, GB of storage, Google Calendar, GMail, Google Drive, Google Meet etc.?

It’s an interesting take and one I hadn’t considered yet - Apple makes Safari the only game in town on iOS to prevent Google from releasing a better browser and ensuring that Google has to pay them $26bn a year.

I think overall Cloudflare did a decent job on this. Clearly the DC provider cocked up big time here, but Cloudflare kept running fine for the vast majority of customers globally. No system is perfect and it’s only apocalyptic scenarios lik

He's a great guy and deserves the success. I reached out to him in 2013ish about US immigration and he was extremely nice and helpful. Check out his new startup, Reflect Notes, seems to be getting some traction.

We moved from DigitalOcean to ECS 2-3 months ago and it has been rock solid. Highly recommended. There is some initial setup required with container registries and wrangling AWS's vocab but once set up, push to master, GitHub Actions b
