What are considered stupid extra steps by some, others may consider to be deciding factors for using a product or not. The user experience in this case requires a fix regardless of what you may consider a penny solution value. Ownership of

I wonder if this trend will increase. Moving from Chrome to Firefox and Google to DuckDuckGo for me was first about a bad taste left by a brand. That led me to alternatives that are more user focused and actually listening to users. I think

Got it. I made DDG my default in the awesome bar, but I understand the benefits of the saved keyword approach better now.

I haven't played with Firefox keywords really but isn't the saved search still going through whatever the default search engine is (in Firefox, Google)? [Update] I guess my point is that DDG has it ready to go and the syntax is us

The !Bang syntax is excellent for searching language/framework/library specific answers. Just append it to the end of a search if you need to. [DuckDuckGo !Bang]( https://duckduckgo.com/bang.html ) If you still need

I made this switch myself recently. The web dev tools in FF are still a bit weak in pseudo areas and media queries but I'm living with it for now. BTW, why doesn't Firefox have "paste & match style"? DDG is also my g

I feel about the same. I recently switched back over to DDG (and Firefox). I'm happier with their privacy conscience philosophy (even if turns out moot because of it's location) and will give it my search queries going forward. Du

Whoops - thanks for the drivel alert. I dribbled a bit. I think Apple historically has done a great job overall and set a bar where the user experience is concerned. Recently, that hasn't been as true for me with certain Apple products

How does this dribble make it to HN? This article represents such an elitest out-of-touch opinion. When designers forget that users or potential users are the final authority that matters, they're walking the path of irrelevance.

Really good points. Product is ultimately responsible for the user experience. The PM or head of product may not be a legal expert, but they better be an expert in knowing their users. Stakeholders signed off on the ToS or ToU. Each bears

Whether it's customer or user , the experience better rock! Less time on semantics and more on great products that people want to use.

Exactly my thoughts too. When a CEO makes a statements like this, it tends to raise questions about their judgement. It's an out of touch belief in my opinion.

Long before IFTTT, Pipes was an excellent solution for various social media needs. I recall mashing up RSS feeds and using it to bypass various platform throttles. It was awesome for fixing wonky feeds. Love the UNIX metaphore and interface
