No mention of Windows 10 IoT? Is it still going to live in some weird licensing limbo zone where it's only for preview and not for normal people to buy and use? edit: Oh geeze I missed it, it's appparently part of 'Windows 1

Regardless of who is right or wrong at the end of the day it's still broken for many people. If Microsoft and Joyent/the node & npm community care about people using node & npm on Windows then the issues needs to be resol

I think it would be fun to solve multiple Zork games by feeding them all the exact same input. I'm thinking you'd need to build a tree of all possible inputs and responses from each game, then try to find a path through the tree

Oh neat, had no idea about that command. Looks like these two are the big time sinks: 6.340s systemd-udev-settle.service 6.232s NetworkManager-wait-online.service Everything after that is under 250ms or so. Interesting that udev and netwo

I'm looking forward to 2 or 3 years from now when we can look back and laugh at all the fear and apprehension about systemd. That said though, I did just recently upgrade to Ubuntu 15.04 (which is all systemd now) and it is noticeably

Conversely though, wouldn't K-cup and other single use cups be more water efficient? You don't need to rinse out and clean a filter, pot, etc. You just pour enough water into the brewing machine to make a cup of coffee.

The messaging about Windows 10 on the Pi 2 a few months ago was pretty bad and many people assumed it was the full Windows 10 desktop experience because so little info was released at the time. Only if you dug into the details released at

One thing I didn't see mentioned much at all during the presentation was info on Windows 10 IoT editions (like Raspberry Pi 2 support). There was a good presentation on it at WinHEC ( http://channel9.msdn.com/Events

Supported with bug fixes, sure. Supported well enough to do modern application development (with the latest C#, .NET framework features, etc)? No. The last major release (Silverlight 5) was 4 years ago.

It's a bit different when there's a runtime required to run the apps. An app written in Go/Rust today will run on a machine 10, 20, 100 years from now as it's just an entirely self-contained executable. A .NET app will

This is interesting but is there any commitment to support it long term? I remember when Silverlight was supposed to be the savior that brought .NET to Mac and Linux, but that didn't last more than 5 years. Would be nice for MS to sa

Yeah the real test will be, is this thing supported 5 years from now? There's a nice history of projects like Silverlight that get a lot of buzz and love early on but languish and are killed a few years later when management and prior

I think this gets to the core of the problem. The API is out there and open, yet no one (or at least not many people) have decided to try and make a nice GUI client for Linux. Perhaps it's not a problem with Google but more a problem

Officially there are no plans for 2.8. Version 2.7 is the last one (but they'll keep supporting it with bug fixes AFAIK, hence why it's up to 2.7.9).
