Since no one else jumped in... Short answer: EdgeRouter 4 ($199) or EdgeRouter Lite ($99). Long Answer: It depends. The ER-X / ER-X-SFP are architected as a switch with a router hanging off an internal 1Gb/s full-duplex link. Ever

UniFi is awesome for managing the extended family's stuff, tho I've been leaning towards AmpliFi Mesh (another Ubiquiti product line) for those who don't have very fast Internet -- the phone app is super friendly and supports

A lesser-known awesome feature of AvantGo was that it also functioned online. In early 2000 I was using AvantGo on a Palm Vx, IrDA connected to my cell phone, getting Internet access via my carrier's WAP gateway (PPP over CSD? I forg

My desktop runs a pair of stacked 21:9 displays just fine ;-) I'm in the camp that finds 16:9 / 16:10 to be the wrong ratio for... everything. Maybe a giant high-DPI display would make it better. For now, having four windows arran

For me, desktop 21:9 displays have been a good substitute -- divide the screen down the middle and it's comparable in feel to having side-by-side 4:3 displays.

Holy Flying Spaghetti Monster, those are exciting developments! I've been messing around with Crouton to run VS Code / .NET Core / PowerShell Core, but I'm not very comfortable with how that negates many of the security

I was thinking more along the lines of their SME offering. DNS filtering is an important layer in network security and CloudFlare’s position of being in the middle of a large portion of Internet traffic, alongside now trying to attract a ch

I was weirded out by the Donnie quotes. He'd been gone a year when the article was published but the way they were presented you'd think they were freshly sourced. He was a great guy and brilliant co-worker. Sorely missed.

Hue and IKEA have E12s. The Hue E12s are available as white or color, but they're terribly expensive and never seem to go on sale. The IKEA E12 is only $7, dimmable but not color temp, and will pair directly to a Hue hub.

I had one out of around 50 die over ~3 years, which I'm sure is much better than I experienced with incandescents and CFLs. Smart bulbs are so cheap now that I've obsoleted nearly all of my "dumb" LEDs.
