This is the first I'm hearing of this change, and considering that this is likely true for many people the migration timeline seems awfully short.

Yandex 360 is great and also has calendar support etc. There are a few things that make moving your calendar away from Google pretty hard. If a Google account invites you, the invite still lands in your old calendar for example - even if th

This is already getting coverage in Russian media. Your assumption that our politicians need a lot of influencing to care about this is probably wrong, especially since these leaks lead to financial losses. I'd be more surprised if the

Your comment reflects a strange perspective, as if the community to which you're talking is only from a single place and somehow excludes Russia/Turkmenistan/US/whatever. That's not the case, HN is an international

This comment sums up the state of consumer tech so well. "Consumers don't want it, but they will use it anyways, because Apple/whoever said so"

I recently moved to Yandex 360. We previously had DNS, mail etc. on Google until an outage[0] occured. The outage was the classical story of "billing error in related Play Store (!) account nuked entire GCP setup", which diminish

I'm using "Europe" largely in the sense of "influence sphere of EU/Germany". I'd count the UK (and countries like Norway, Switzerland) into this influence sphere, even if they're not officially member

Oh yeah, I'm aware. My hopes aren't placed in Europe, I live in Moscow :) It is fascinating that the topic seems to get so little thought in Europe though.

I understand that this is the dominant view in the Western sphere and there's really no point arguing about it, our priors would be too different. Doesn't change anything about what I said about tech dependence though, especially

I think it's imperative that governments all over the world take steps to reduce dependence on American infrastructure. Russia is working on this, but it's a slow process - especially on the hardware side of things. If the US goes

The vast majority of people isn't going to get a specific, probably expensive medicine for what amounts to a cold for most people. I certainly won't. If anything they'll take some aspirin/paracetamol and rock on.
