With your IRC system, how did you deal with channel history, i.e. seeing messages that were delivered to the channel while the user wasn't there, something that slack and teams does well?

The hatred for Systemd seems to come from those who see the unix philosophy of small, single use programs being thrown away in favour of a monolith. Back when I had linux as a desktop (around the day of slackware 10) there were plenty of pr

The "a website for buying and selling JPEGS with your debit card" part simultaneously made me realise how ridiculous NFTs are and, nevertheless, how popular they are, and how that popularity fuels the value of bitcoin. Essentially

I liked Cousurfing, and paid them money for the service, but then they locked me out asking for a subscription. I'd happily use another application now, especially since their application was rather buggy and servers slow.

The 3d rotation on the map is really unsettling. Surely you'd only need to span and scale it?

This "playing golf with government minister" should be called out for what it is: a probable or possible bribe. It won't be money in a brown paper bag but the result will be the same. It's endemic. We like to think bribe

I wonder if "thee" comes from "thou". Definitely distinctly Yorkshire. I wouldn't use it as I think people would accuse me of taking on a false Yorkshire accent.

The English don’t notice their English accent. England is a country of a new accent every 40 miles or so. We understand each other nonetheless; we’re habituated to it from birth. We rarely realise others don’t experience the same.

I’m waiting for other distros to steal ideas from nix. Guix might be a good candidate but I didn’t manage to get quickly started with it looking the docs (although they looked useful if you wanted to sit down for a couple of hours).
