The motive could be “think twice before dismissing climate scientists because they have a pretty good track record.” Your interpretation seems to display the exact bias you are attributing to others.

One the whole capitalism is not zero-sum, as we can observe by continued GDP growth. I think a lot of the frustration comes from the feeling that within certain classes, it is zero-sum. Imagine an economy that grows by $1 trillion. Suppose

It’s not significant because $1 billion is 0.01% of the total. Also, this article is about US corporate debt specifically. What is significant is this quote: “sending total U.S. corporate debt to nearly $10 trillion, or a record 47 percent

America has also disposed of plenty of democratically-elected regimes (Panama, Iran, Chile, Guatemala, Brazil, etc.). I’m not sure who gets to determine if that ”pales in comparison” to its support of other democracies, but it did happen.

Not to diminish your experience, but a lot of your "calculation" seems to exists because of assumptions you have made. Isn't 9-5 the typical working day? Why does your commute need to be 1 hour each way? I work a 9-5 with a 4

== Simply put, why aren't there more tax brackets for cap gains and other investment income?== Because the people who make large capital gains are the ones funding political campaigns and helping to write the laws.

== We can influence it a bit, but definitely a lot less than we having giving ourselves credit for. More than that, we don't have enough data to understand how the climate would change by itself, without human influence. == This logic

You are taking theories and treating them as scientific facts. Is it possible that weakening of unions made it easier for politicians to pass globalization policies which ultimately lead to wage stagnation? Is it possible that trickle-down

I don’t see how it’s any different, let alone “amateurish”. Clinton cleared the way for the internet to create as much wealth as it has (Telecommunications Act of 1996). Every President has had positive policies and negative policies, so we

Don’t forget how Reagan told us that tax cuts would “trickle down” and busting unions would make us all more prosperous.

I see your point and it’s true and reasonable. I would just add that at some point calling something unreasonable without educating yourself (or refusing to educate yourself) on the proposal is a form of bad-faith argument.

This article isn’t a justification for raising the minimum wage, it is a commentary on how the arguments against raising the minimum wage have proved false in the recent wave of minimum wage increases. You seem to ignore that to attack st

How do you define “reasonable”? The bill that passed the House wouldn’t get to $15/hr until 2025. That would be a 4.6% annual increase (CAGR) going back to 2009 when the $7.25 rate was implemented. That might be a little higher than yo

Your fundamental assumption is that labor economics works like an economics 101 course. It doesn’t, that’s why it has it‘s own field of study. As an example, free markets depend on equal information and workers don’t have the same informati

Stocks aren’t necessarily an indicator of economic strength. The S&P 500 is in an earnings recession right now, but continues trading at all-time highs. The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay liquid.

If your hypothesis is correct, we have the signal: “A total of 1,160 CEOs in the US have left their jobs in the first nine months of 2019, according to data from recruitment firm Challenger, Gray, & Christmas. That’s up 13% from the sam
