Agree with this, except maybe the bit about competing on pricing. I think it risks becoming a race to the bottom which benefits none of the competitors. Better to compete on features (as you suggest), quality, service, even messaging/style

Very interesting to read about each product and the lessons learned. Looking forward to the follow-up article. I'm a bit concerned about how long the writer can continue, though. There isn't a single mention of sales or income, both in term

Fun to play with! One very small point - you might want to change "Courtesty of" to "Courtesy of" (unless it's deliberate).

Agree - this is also needed for accessibility reasons. Either something like Spacebar for next, or Tab/arrow keys.

No, you did not make a mistake by being honest. If you'd have fluffed it or lied you would have either made yourself look stupid or found yourself in a position that doesn't suit you at present. Be honest and in the long term it will be the

The first I heard of lucid dreaming was this introduction to it in Steve Pavlina's podcast. Highly recommended for anyone with a passing interest: http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2006/01/stevepavlinacom-pod...

Slightly related, I think you should make MakeLeaps a bit more visible in the Hacker News meetups, even if it's just a logo on the door or reception desk. Alternatively, hand out the stickers you mentioned in the article. I'm sure lots of u

Thanks Jason - a great look into doing business in Japan and relevant for large as well as small businesses IMO. Especially interesting are the methods you used to break out of the no-users-without-social-proof vicious circle. Another optio

Yes, on the surface it seems to be similar to Pinterest, Instapaper, Evernote and possibly even plain old bookmarks. A comparison between the services would be helpful.

A bit of feedback - the first thing I see is a message saying "you need to create your account", which put me off. It would be nice if I could save a few things immediately with an auto-generated temporary account, accompanied by a "sign-up

A bit off-topic and I might have missed something, but why is this on GitHub? I would have thought Wikipedia is best for reference lists like this. Still an eye-opening read, though.

Thanks. I appreciate the quick response. Mobile Opera & Firefox don't work for me. I haven't looked into why yet but can do that on Monday and get back to you.

A couple of issues: 1. "assuming you’re with the rest of us in the 21st century" - that's pretty insulting to the millions who can't afford a smartphone. 2. "it’ll run from your phone’s browser" - but only if it's WebKit.

Looks like this is WebKit only. Any chance that jQuery.keyframe.js could have vendor prefix support for Firefox, Opera & IE, similar to libs/request_animation_frame.js ?

Sorry for the snarky comment. I was frustrated at the "$7.8 Billion In Value" headline - I don't like that "value" is measured by what the founders get out of a startup rather than what users get out of it (or are prepared to pay for it). I
