Fuck my job. I make more money than ever but a bunch of chodes want to meet all day. I do NOT like meetings. Pairing is a NIGHTMARE. I’m a hardcore sysadmin, let’s debug some drivers. Instead we run php web apps where I can’t grep.

I used to live in NYC, and so much money went to both taxes and housing. I do hope living costs come down considerably, a lot of people can’t afford to save while living there.

My point isn’t that I can’t figure it out, it’s that it’s painful to use. Someone is paid to be in charge of the ui/ux, their objective is mysterious because it’s not usability.

Article mentions the paper has been taken down. Has anyone found a copy? Search turns up zilch.

I’ve got 20 years in tech and I find products like Snapchat extremely difficult to use. It’s NOT intuitive at all. Is it just me, or is it terrible?

A colleague is a former AWS employee - my understanding is nobody wants to touch the billing code for this reason. I think that also explains why the billing interface leaves a bit to be desired.

As a fellow introvert I must disagree: I dread speaking to people. I have a strong preference for text communication. When I am forced into a video meeting I minimize the video, prefer to just listen.

If you create resources outside of terraform/CF your doing it wrong. This is a feature, not a bug.

Agreed. Sits very difficult to find fact based news. It’s all polarizing opinion.

Meh. I used terraform for a few years and every time it didn’t work the way I wanted I found a ignored github issue. Vaporware as far as I am concerned.

Remote work is a skill like anything else. Your litmus test is a gross over simplification of workplace dynamics.

Look at Philadelphia Krasner. There is recent controversy but his agenda of plea reform is a fantastic start.

Great news! I first learned about private prisons over a decade ago and since then I am in disbelief by how many people aren’t aware there are for profit prisons. Really good move. Bravo.

Onus should be on journalists. Bring back the fairness doctrine and have people smarter than me take down the sinclair group.

I’d like to see the browser APIs prohibit this - and also disable interference with text selecting and copy/paste buffer. There is no legit reason for this functionality.

I don’t think this is about gig worker wages at all. It’s about tax revenue. California has always been a scumbag state.

I don’t think it’s practical to depend on electronic braking mechanisms. Better to install bollards protecting sidewalks.

Very disappointed in the opportunistic politician. All cars pose a similar risk. Whether it’s a SUV or regular car isn’t really material.
