Oh man. I don’t get this complaint. There’s a quadrillion of Windows only software, basically 99% of games are Windows only. Most of Gnome and Kde apps are Linux(BSD) only. Yet they don’t scream on the home page “Watch Out! It’s Windows onl

I think you should get just that with Notepad++ on Windows or TextWrangler (BBedit) on Mac. On Linux I think that all stock editors have it (GEdit, etc…). All that for free and without Electron madness. You should be much better with any of

It might sound controversial, but for me Atom was almost a 1 to 1 Sublime copy with worse performance and quality. It was slow and ugly. It’s only quality was that it was 0$. It was the first editor I’ve seen to choke when opening 1M file (

For me it simply should be forbidden to have any contract like this between consumer and company. All relations should be regulated by law and no exception should be allowed. If you sell a product all warranty and obligations should be regu

I’m not really a crypto fan. But it’s a really neat device. A cool tech that has a creative use of e-ink. Something I wouldn’t mind keeping in my pocket.

Funny how we give advice on how to manage a billion dollar company to guy who owns 2 of these . I’m not sure how many do you own, but I unfortunately don’t have any.

Wasn’t it that version 2.xx was introduced due to incompatible changes? At least it’s what i remember.

It maybe off-topic, but don’t you think that semver is somewhat dead if even kernel (software everyone depends on) does not use it any more? According to semver there should be some heavy incompatible changes in this release, while it’s onl

I also spent quite some time building desktop and mobile apps (5, maybe 6 years) and also more than 10 years of building web apps and don’t really share this sentiment. My feeling is exactly opposite. CSS is messy and hacky way to build lay

Yeah, and these services (namely renders of the designs) are still paid outside of main subscription fee. What’s worst is that these cloud services make the app worse. I want to work on a file I have on my computer, not upload it to cloud f

I really liked the old way it used to work. You bought a license for software and got only bugfixes and security patches. Every second year there was a new version released with 50-75% upgrade price for current users. I totally understand s

Not sure about Maccy, but I’ve been using „Copy’em” ( https://apprywhere.com/ce-mac.html ) for last few years and been really happy with it. I highly recommend it if someone is looking for something like this.

I’ve done similar benchmarks some time ago for Java with exactly same conclusions. Due to the way CPUs reads and caches memory the only case for linked lists is doing a lot of in the middle inserts and deletes while iterating the list. Arra

I don’t like type inference myself. Code is read more than written. You really should be optimizing for better intent understanding than for easy typing. Types can usually be auto completed if they can be inferred. I especially love the Jav

Google is making a lot of money on Maps. The consumer app is free only so you feed them free data from your rides. They also kicked out of business all competition (hard to compete with free). And as usual with monopolies, when there’s no c

I see nothing particularly hard in utilising 32 cores. When I launch all the services in the project I’m working on my os has plenty work to schedule. Right now I have 3732 threads running on my machine. It’s totally separate question if OS

I must say I really like the MacOS idea, that every app has it’s own folder. I think that apps scattered through filesystem are not a good idea at all. Maybe they should symlink executables to /bin and shared libraries to /lib. Al

If your employer is breaking the law, you should probably gather evidence and notify law enforcement, not mess with it’s product code to do nasty jokes. Update: sorry, I’ve misread your comment. If what you mean is that current management w

How crazy unprofessional you have to be to do harm to your company because you don’t like the new owner? It totally blews my mind that people can be so childish. If you don’t like your employer, change job or organize and change rules. But

I have to agree on everything that author has stated. I also hate Spring with all my heart. I have hated it 10 years ago, now got onto a project that is using Spring Boot and hate it again. It has nothing to do with XML, it's that Spri

Yeah it’s a nice idea, but it still has to mess with DOM and css in the end. I just think that web apps are not web pages. And all this struggle with css quirks and all this power wasted on parsing DOM is not really needed. I know that if w
