I mean you cannot send stuff from client. If you’re using tokens for auth and don’t want to use session cookies, you end with ugly polyfils.

Yeah, sorry. In socket.io it’s 2 lines. You need 5 lines with browser APIs :). You simply get stuff like auto-reconnect and graceful failover to long polling for free when using socket.io

My experience with sse is pretty bad. They are unreliable, don’t support headers and require keep-alive hackery. In my experience WebSockets are so much better. Also ease of use doesn’t really convince me. It’s like 5 lines of code with soc

It’s really great thet they are releasing it to the public. With cheap 3d printing we can finally replace broken parts. Create some mechanical mods, etc. It’s also great material to learn if you are interested in mechanical engineering. I’m

I personally totally hate that idea. I hate it when I can’t open main page for the product to check on pricing, watch for new features or just show it to someone else. I just get redirected to the app and need to find a hacky way to go back

If you can make compiler work with both - new and old code, then yes, I totally agree. But Python expected you to transpile your code to new version and recompile while also updating many of your dependencies. And that’s not something you e

Nope, this is exactly what has killed Python3. There is only one way forward - old code still has to work or people will simply stay on 1.0 forever.

I never understood idea behind non exact version of dependencies. What’s to gain here? If I develop and test my app with given version I want it to run with given version. Not with something around, near by or similar. I want this exact ver

If you compare it to Atom, then yes, it’s fast. But compare it to anything native and it’s unusable. I’m using Sublime and switching to VS code hurts my brain. It just feels wrong. You can feel that there’s some time between pressing a key

I’ve recently got back onto Java project after few years and Intellij feels crazy fast whan compared to VS Code. And it has 2x IDE functionalities built in. As much as I love JS on web and backend via Node, I really hate desktop apps in Ele

And it performs exactly according to that statement. Slow as hell. I can’t bare it’s input lag when typing. It’s a horrible text editor. Maybe a nice IDE but horrible editor.

There’s a piece of me that feels a bit wrong about this. When I’m listening to the album I want to experience it my way. Maybe I want to shuffle albums, maybe not. I don’t think that artist freedom to order tracks is worth more than my free

I’ve been using Apache exactly for that for years and it’s quite easy to setup. Maybe it’s me just being used to it, but I find Apache easier to configure than nginx.

Looking at the release docs it’s a smallish release. But I’m very happy something is still going on there. HTTPD has been my go to web server for years and I had used it so many times in production as a proxy/gateway. Always reliable.

Again the dreaded Cobol argument. We had to struggle with a lot of this in the past: Cobol, SQL, YAML, BDD. All this would be much easier without this nonsensical idea that nontechnical people will read code. They won’t. Making code a bit

I would never want to use it, even on Windows. I just wonder why anyone would want to use anything from MS on Linux. It just looks like good old „ Embrace, extend, and extinguish” at work here. How did it happen that from the total evil MS

The most recent thing was the typing app where we had to change style if each character after user typed it. With long texts (10k of characters) performance of tree diffing was not acceptable (especially in Safari) so we replaced whole text

Hmm, I don’t really agree on this one. Just a day ago I’ve added a totally not vdom, stateful component that was mutating DOM and adding nodes on it’s own to fix performance problems with critical part of the app that required instant feedb

I think that big part of it is due to women being not really interested in tech. I’m pretty sure there’s some hostility there, but never seen anything particularly bad or on a big scale. All women I worked and studied with never really comp

I personally see very few use cases for classes in JS. Most of the stuff can be solved by using factories and objects without all "this" issues.
