Early return makes it easy to reason that the rest of the code in the function is unrelated to whatever you're checking for right now. Having multiple exit points in a function is not the end the world. If you need to print()/log(

Yes, it basically means "solve 𝐗𝛉 = y for 𝛉", for which inverting 𝐗 is one of the many methods that can be used to solve it. MATLAB also has the same backslash operator to mean the same thing.

The compiler cannot catch logic or design errors. If you made a mistake when designing the algorithm and implemented it as it is, you'd need to debug anyway. Sometimes it's something as simple as missing a minus symbol somewhere i

I went back to see what changes I made to my local checkout. It seems I never made as far as to implementing subpixel rendering. I think I experimented with subpixel stuff on some other medium (maybe used GIMP to do the shifting manually, I

TeXmacs is one of those apps that I reinstall from time to time when I want to scribble some math notes and find the split screen setup of most LaTeX editors or Markdown with preview too distracting. It is hands down the most pleasant to us

I don't know much about how A/C works, whether the dehumidifier mechanism can be decoupled from the cooling mechanism. If it can't, then shouldn't the thermostat be coupled to a hygrostat so that that A/C runs when

The closest you get to having a RAD IDE for WinForms is probably Lazarus, but it's based on Pascal. For BASIC, there's a project called WinFBE which seems to be in active development.

Since the user didn't show what happens when the submit button is pressed, I'm keen to believe that the pop-up is just a fake gimmick that just leads to the App Store to have the user write the review and rate the app manually.

This article screams survivorship bias so much that it's hard to take without modest amount of salt. The paragraph that takes law as example makes a case that, based on the data from the linked Hamilton Project study (which itself used

What kind of calculator do you need for high schools anyway? Is there a reason why Casio isn't as popular? It's cheap, more responsive than TI (from my experience with TI-83).

Having backlit screen is probably the reason why it needs lithium battery in the first place, as a simple pack of 4 AA batteries wouldn't last as long. Lithium battery has a life cycle of around 1000-2000 charges, and may deteriorate e

If this is for deserialisation then it's okay for x[0] to be signed. You just need to recast the result as int32_t (or simply assign to an int32_t variable without any cast) and it is not UB.

Python is not typeless as in the sense of B. In B, everything is int, while in Python you still have floats and other stuff. Sure, Python does need declarations but that's called duck typing.

The only way the data can lose value is when everyone in the list change their numbers. If making it public drives them to do that, then good, but the inertia to do that is so big that I doubt most would. Spammers and marketers don't c

I'm not sure if you and GP share the same notion of stutter or not. I never saw stutters when limiting the game at 24 or 30 fps while playing on a 60 Hz LCD monitor in the past. It stutters only when the fps is not constant.

A vertex on an nD hypercube has n neighbours, so how do you manage to colour it to have √n neighbours? Shouldn't it be n? If it's √n, then do you round it up or down?
