My house was built in 1650 and doesn’t take much maintenance at all. Definitely not more than the equivalent in rent I’d pay for it.

I always understood that usage to mean that there are deeper, unexpected layers, not that the time spent is necessarily valuable. “Discover the lost art and science of the London system” (in chess) would be a deep dive into it, rather than

One can’t help but wonder why people would make mistakes when they could simply choose not to.

Your mileage may vary, it’s a bit too “contrarian to generate views” for my taste, but check out his video history and see if it might be the kind of thing you’re into.

Credibility of evidence is not totally subjective. I (and you, and anyone) can personally prove in a variety of ways that the earth is not flat, but still many people believe there is a conspiracy that the earth is round. Of course they all

Some companies have a culture where everything is discussed in meetings, and if you aren’t in all the meetings none of the context is anywhere else to be found. The best thing to do (if you want to catch up) is ask someone who seemed to kno

Isn’t that a good thing? I can deliver a bunch of non-credible evidence for basically anything I make up. It’s unfortunate if a person is blowing a whistle on something real but can’t actually prove it, but the alternative is just believing

If we are still doing the trolley problem it would be “the brakes have failed, and … do you continue straight and definitely hit A, or turn the wheel and definitely hit B”.

Is the trolley scenario intended as a blame-finding simulation? I thought it was more like “what (ethical) choice do you make in a difficult situation” deal. You surely still have some agency after your brakes failed. Or at least if it happ

This only works as long as the defectors have no evidence, right? That seems like it would be harder to guarantee.

You could adjust the question to be “the brakes have failed and..” to avoid that out.

It's not necessarily bad if you have someone amazing in charge of casting, but it's really hard to build a cast out of people who nobody has heard of who it turns out are actually incredible talents. Known actors are a known quant

It's amazing how they managed to go from beloved franchise to salted earth in one season. People used to rewatch the seasons, but not so much now that they know where it's all headed.
